I haven't seen all of the movies. The ones I've seen the most are the first 3 which were released theatrically in the UK and US while the others which were released in theatres in Japan but when translated into english they were released on video and dvd. I've seen some of the other ones on tv. I would probably go for the second one, but what would everyone else choose?
Which of the films is "The Wrath of Khan" or "The Empire Strikes Back" of the series?

Funny, I'm watching Pokemon and the Rise of Darkrai as I type this, before I even saw this post :D I'd have to go with Jirachi Wishmaker

Jesus balls, there are that many?

I remember seeing a TV spot for the first one. Couldn't have been that long ago. Are they releasing them on a weekly basis?

I've only seen a couple of early ones. I was about 12-ish. I don't know.

Despite the show being insanely repetitive (and from what I gather the movies follow the same basic formula) I did actually enjoy the movies.

The main thing that caught my attention in the first movie was that the animation was much better. You'd often see fluid battles instead of the usual turn taking sort of stuff you see in the regular show. And I think it was the first time they showed some of Gen 2's pokemon. So that one was awesome for me at the time.

The next one I watched was the one with Celebi. I really liked the idea of that poacher(?) guy enslaving pokemon and basically brain washing them, or something. So that one was cool (didn't watch the whole thing).

I probably wouldn't enjoy these movies much any more if watched them today. I really hate the fact that the company's business strategy is rehash rehash rehash. But my vote goes for #1.

As I've said before I watched the first 3 the most and I would watch them all the time back in the day and probably would have chosen these movies over any other animated movie. But I'm older now and I realise that those other animated movies are much better. I was watching the first 2 today and as much as I loved them back then they weren't as good as before. The First Movie was good but not great and it wasn't as exciting as it was before. The second one was better in my opinion and of all the films I've seen it is probably my favourite, but still not without flaws.

I've seen movie 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6, 7, 8, 9 under pressure of my little brother
To arrange the first 5 movies from best to worst... I'd say, 3rd - 1st - 4th - 2nd - 5th
I liked the ones with Deoxys and Lucario too :)

I've seen all the movies (except for the Victini ones, but they're not out in English yet) and my favourite would have to be 2000. It may not look as clean as the diamond/pearl movies, or have a plot like destiny deoxys but it reminds me of being a child, when pokemon was the most important thing in my life.
Can't remember how many times i replayed the VHS tape whenever i could. Also lugia is amazing

I voted the first movie on this a while back.

I guess that I am just a big fan for Mewtwo's character, being made as a weapon, but destroying his creators as he refuses to be their tool, and tries to do what he thinks is right based on his anger. I still cry every time I watch the part where pikachu tries to revive Ash. Apart from those the pokemon in the movie tend to come off as epic, the battle in the opening credits, introducing the other champions pokemon, and when the clones show how strong they are.

Of course their is always nostalgia being a part of it, I do think I enjoyed the setting more in the second movie.

I haven't seen all the movies, but I liked all the ones I saw. If I had to arrange them, it would be 2nd - 8th - 1st - 3rd - 10th - 5th - 4th. The eight might have a better plot, but I like second better due to nostalgia, and because of Lugia.

I've seen the first three. The first and third films I saw theatrically back in the day (if I recall my dad took me) but the second film I saw years later on Cartoon Network. Out of the ones I have watched in full, I would have to rate number three as my favourite because it had better visuals, a better plot and was less watered down as the first two. These days I prefer Studio Ghibli's films as they at least don't dumb down their films for western audiences.

I used to love the first three and I liked the fourth (is that the one with Celebi?), but I stopped enjoying them as much after those and I really found Destiny Deoxys to be a snooze fest. I would rank the one's I've seen as follows:
3 (Entei was awesome and being voiced by Dan Green didn't hurt)
2 (Lugia was also awesome and is one of my all-time favorite Pokemon because of this movie)
1 (It was pretty good, but a bit sappy)
4 (I only saw it once and never really wanted to watch it more than a couple of times, but I enjoyed it from what I remember)

I caught some scenes from the Lucario movie and it seemed interesting enough, but I just can't bring myself to enjoy the movies anymore, even as guilty pleasures. :(

I've still not got around to watching any after Ranger, but I loved Destiny Deoxys. I'm not sure exactly what it was, but there was just something about it I really got into.

I loved the first one. I remember going to see it in theaters when I was little, and I got a Pokemon card with the movie!

I believe I saw the first two in the cinema. Possibly the third.

After that though I don't believe I've seen any of them...

I saw the first two in theaters. I saw the first 6 movies when I was a big fan of the series when I was younger. I still have my promo card from the second movie.
