I am currently folding laundry, an Aspie and find that washing clothes is easy for me and folding laundry. I don't mind doing dishes but it drains me standing on my feet for long periods of time and makes me tired, vacuuming is easy for me while sweeping and getting things between cracks can be a hassle so that's why I use a vacuum. Mopping I simply never knew how to mop to save my own life. I never could learn how to mop. Anyone else ? What are your chores as an adult or teenager you like and dislike and why? I also sometimes can't stand the smell of dishes if they been sitting for awhile and will use lemon Ajax detergent or orange to mask the smell. :)

I'm spry dish soap not detergent sorry for the confusion! My mind wanted to post dish soap but said detergent. Not sure if other aspies do this, but I do. My mind thinks one thing but I say another! Frustrating! Sometimes I make people upset from this.

I love mowing the yard. It's more physically taxing thank other chores but I feel productive while I'm doing it. It also gets me outside in the fresh air and gives me some exercise at the same time.

I can't stand doing dishes or anything kitchen related, really. I seem to really dislike the chores that are considered "women's work" (stereotypically speaking). Not because of the stigma, I just seem to lean towards preferring the manual labor outdoorsy type of work.

I dislike all chores, they make me so tired and I space out all the time, which makes it difficult to focus on what I have to do. Probably the least unpleasant is washing the sink or cooking machine. The motions involved in performing these tasks kinda calm my nerves, a bit like stimming but more exhausting. I'm also ok with vacuuming.

I can't stand washing the dishes and, most of all, folding laundry. It's so repetitive, it gets me bored in the first few minutes after I start... So I lose patience and most of my clothes end up unfolded in my dresser. Oh well, who cares anyway? Not me.

I hate doing the laundry mainly because I have to go to the one down the street to do it.
I can't stand it if it is busy(I will wait for another day if it is!) and have a set routine time wise.
I usually get it done in 53min or less any more makes me want to pull my hair out!
I go home during the wash and stay for the dryer only because I have to otherwise the boredom of staying the whole time
would cause a near meltdown!
All other chores no problem since I can take my time and do it my way.
Oh by the way my idea of busy is not having at least 6 dryers and 2 machines without having to wait! :D

Thats me exactly! If you lived near me, I'd let you do your laundry here free of charge, not he neighborhood though because I understand that, too many machines going, noise, smells from the laundry, people talking loudly echoing the laundry site, other kids crying besides my own in the laundry unit, and having to wait for a washer avail would drive my mind insane, well not literally insane but you know what I mean, meltdown, overwhelmd, overload, tense body and just not comfortable in my body (hard to describe), not sure how you get when this way, but that's how I am. Maybe you can find a friend or a family member and use their washer or dryer and use your detergent? I'd even pay a little money if I was in your situation to that friend to avoid the pain of sensory overload! Ugh! I'm so sorry you have to go through this.

I like doing the laundry because it's simple.

>Stick clothes in machine
>Add detergent or fabric softener
>Turn on machine

And that's more or less it.

I hate doing the dishes because the soggy food stuck to plates, pots and pans makes me want to gag. :?

I love sweeping and vacuuming. The sound of dirt getting sucked into the vacuum and rattling around the hose is really satisfying for some reason. And sweeping a dirty floor and seeing it get all clean is quite fun.

I cannot stand cleaning off tables and clearing up messes because I get overwhelmed with all the different stuff and can't find places for any of it.

My favourite chores involve sorting (such as regrouping things in a messy fridge or cupboard) - hardly surprising since sorting things was my favourite activity when I was young.

I think the chore I like the most is emptying the dishwasher. Then I get to sort things and I get to colour coordinate the tea cups etc. My least favourite chore is probably vacuuming.

My favourite chore is doing laundry. It's easy, as you only have to sort the clothes and put them in the dishwasher. I actually don't mind sorting the newspapers either, once I've started doing it. I absolutely hate dusting the desk/bookshelves. Having to have a wet rag in my hand and getting dust and dirt on it...ewww.

I do like unpacking grocery shopping and putting it away.

I also like folding clothes, and I like changing the sheets and duvet on my bed. Well, sometimes I can't be bothered when I'm thinking about it, but once I make a start then I quite enjoy it.

I also don't mind making lunch, especially when I am hungry.

Washing up is all right, I like doing it when someone is talking on the phone or to each other in the same room, because hearing talking relaxes me when washing up and I get the job done more effectively. I don't like just being stuck out in the kitchen alone and doing the washing-up. It makes the job feel more boring.

I'm not sure if this is a chore or not but I do hate washing my hair and I feel that it is a chore that I do not want to do. This is why I have set days to do my hair, so that I can know that it's a hair-washing day the day before, then get prepared (not literally, just in my mind).

Favorite
>Cleaning my room
>Doing Laundry
>Putting away groceries

Most hated
>Bagging up trash and hauling it off to the landfill. Absolutely disgusting, I hate doing this because I have to pack up as much trash into the trunk as possible, it stinks and I hate the landfill.
>Gathering pieces of wood and kenneling for the fire during the winter.
>Cleaning after my sister. When she stays she leaves food and various other things out for several days in the worst places. Its disgusting and once I pulled out a plate of half-eaten food in a room she was staying in and it had writhing maggots! I couldn't even say anything to her (go figure) and she's so annoying to argue with I just dumped it out and threw up a little in my mouth.
>Cleaning up any kind of poop or vomit.
>Having to drive out alone to pay any bills for my parents or to get the car's oil changed. I HATE doing the latter and have only done it twice, it was horrible and I had to sit in a car dealership waiting for 3 hours. Always try to get out of doing it.

Neutral
>Cleaning the dishes. I love the feeling of water but I hate it when nasty stuff gets stuck to the plates and cutlery.

My favorite chore is baking and cooking, especially baking some pastry and pie and such. My least favorite chore is vacuuming. I hate it so much I literally sit in a mess in my apartment, among dust-balls and spots. I also don't like mopping and dusting. Cleaning the windows is very difficult to me mentally, but I do it twice in a year ideally.

I don't mind washing the dishes and washing my clothes. I like to be clean and wear clean clothes despite my utter ignorance at some house chores, so putting clothes in the machine, hanging and folding them is not a problem for me.

The single most interesting activity to me autism-wise is changing my bed clothes. It was my smelly bed clothes that rang the alarm bell for me. :) So I got myself together and now I wash my bed clothes more frequently than before (not yearly). :)

I can't stand cleaning the toilets. I feel like I need to take a shower afterwards. I guess if I had to pick a favorite chore, I kind of like dust mopping because it's fast and the dust mop thing swooshes around the furniture really smoothly. I guess it's almost fun, if the word fun could ever apply to doing chores.
