OK. I will add the option.

I can't add options anymore. Sorry.

Plus, it might be important whether we are diagnosed when we were kids or as independent adults.

I was only diagnosed in the recent days...and I am thankful...if only I can tell my other doctors, wo try to medicate me for hell-knows-what...to STFU.

I don't need to FIX myself....but it is a relief to have an answer.

Discovering AS changed nothing, except now I have a vocabulary discussing my weirdness. :D

It was not suspected in me until I was an adult...which is kind of silly because my cousin is an aspie and my whole family knew about it. But then again I have a mother who was disappointed at the very idea of any of her kids being any less than perfect (In other words, not the socially-accepted idea of "normal") I knew so much about Aspergers I had always kinda suspected that I'd had it anyhow...

On a different note, when I first heard *of* Aspergers (in relation to my cousin) the first thought I had was "Ass burgers????" (Seriously)

Trust me, it's not that uncommon. I didn't have that because I'm a NZer so it's pronounced differently (more like 'Is-burgers than Ass-burgers, but it still has an 'a' tone to it). Lucky me! :D

THAT was the first joke that came to my mind when I heard about it. I still use it in conversation to freak people out. I mention that I'm ASpic, and people say What? I say it's where you can't tell yer a** from a hamburger, very sad actually ....

It was an enormous relief to me to find out. I always thought I was ADD, but a lot of details didn't fit. To know that I'm ASpic helps me a lot when talking to NTs.

I voted 'Can I park in handicap space now?' altough in my case it was more 'in 7 yrs. time'.

Normal reaction for the age I was. Well, not quite. For me, it was. I'll shut up 'cos I do't want to brag.

im not DXed... i just know what difficulties i have. found out about AS by reading a science magazine on autism that had some narratives by aut/AS people. i remember sitting there so dumbfounded... i went to the net, found WP, read a bazillion posts, cried, cried some more, and then it was gone and i've been obsessed with at least reading these forums daily. i think i'm old enough/not affected in negative ways (other than having limited people exposure) to where i'd need a DX, so i let WP be my therapy.

my selfDX of AS hasn't really changed anything on a day-to-day basis other than i try not to be as hard on myself (sometimes the other way around though) and i at least have some foresight now for situations (mainly at work) that might cause me problems and i try to gather up a game plan before im thrust right in the middle of it--with people standing around me saying, "why are you making that face; what are you looking at (out in space)?

but yeah... kinda wish there was another name for "asperger's" wonder what his middle name was and why he didn't roll with that instead O.o?

My Mother told me I had Aspeger's about 2 years ago. I was first diagnosed when I was in my first year of High School. My mum and dad both knew that there was something wrong with me as I went to see a Psychiatrist and gave me some tests to do when I was about 2 or 3 years old.

Apparently, I completely sucked at the tests for my age group, but as tests increased in difficulty, my results began to improve, so basically from a young age, I had always enjoyed a challenge. I started reading about Aspeger's on the Wikipedia article, which lead me to the article on "Wrong Planet" which lead me here.
