Yeah, bbcode is disabled in signatures to prevent people from posting images. You can post links using html, however but please see the guidelines here:

I would guess that it's for the same reasons as BBCode.

What I want to know is *why*. On the other forums I frequent, I have an animated .gif "userbar" in my sig, like this one:

I have slight variations for different boards... the one above is the one I use on AVEN. On the other hand, on CSDC my userbar does not include references to being an Aspie and being asexual...
