As title. Perhaps some specially constructed forum software or something? I say it as trying to access WP through the web on a normal mobile phone is absolute hell.

Tapatalk is supposed to make the integration of web-based forums etc easier on mobile-based browsers but it's not compatible with the version of phpBB used here. Plus, it's not free to the user (or the site, IIRC).

Any version of Android on any phone will have no problems accessing the site, but navigation on a mobile of any website aimed primarily at a desktop machine is somewhat fiddly - lots of swiping around and zooming in and out.
It does get a bit easier with practice, and a decent browser can only help - I use Dolphin. The stock browser (some bloatware pre-installed by Orange) was horrible and made the whole experience much worse.

using WrongPlanet on my phone is not fun - i get popup ads that cannot be closed without clicking them. technically, i have to click an "x" on the top of the advert on my touchscreen, but that takes me to the ad site, then i have to go back on my browser to return to WP. not cool and i don't know how to stop it. the ad disables the regular buttons on my phone (i.e. home&back) until i click through to the ad's site.

I know, I used it myself when I was staying in Northern Ireland. It is not fun. Not fun at all.

Yeah - I did it once because of my server having problems (it went "phut") and preventing access - but it was so ridiculously fiddly I gave up and dug out an ancient laptop which was pressed into service, connected it directly, and found being hunched over that (short cables!) much preferable to continuing with the phone. Even though the laptop used a track-pad, another curse on mankind.

With the web generally, smartphones are great for the odd Google search or a quick browse around, but definitely not something I intend using for more involved online tasks.

It's a pain in the butt to use WP on my Android phone. It's a lot better on my Kindle Fire.

So, if I get one of those Google phones, am I out of luck in wanting to have a fairly hassle-free experience? That's a shame.

Unless you get something with a decent operating system. I'd go Samsung over HTC or LG if that's what you're worried about.

@Tequila: Same with any phone, really - the problem lies in manipulating something designed for a mouse and typical desktop-sized screen on something as small as a phone's screen. It's too small to read easily without zooming, and that consequently needs lots of swiping around to reach the various parts of the screen.
A larger screen will certainly help, as MakaylaTheAspie says - but at the cost of the smaller size and portability of a phone.
I'd still highly recommend an Andoid-based device though, generic real-estate shortcomings or not...

The excellent Samsung Galaxy S III uses Android, and has a huge screen for a phone...

I have a Samsung Galaxy Prevail and it is a pain to use wrongplanet on there and on the stock OS I use to use on my phone the internal browser the login would not work with the username and password of mine. My PalmOne LifeDrive does a better job with opera and even opera on my CFW PSP lol.

You could grab Opera for your Galaxy, too.

I have a Motorola Atrix, and browsing WP is a bit difficult using Chrome for Android.

Hm, maybe I should chalk one up for my Blackberry. While the small viewing area is a nuisance, everything else works great. And there I was thinking the Blackberry had no benefits to it anymore ...
