Have you ever been in the audience at a taping of a TV show?

Have you ever been in the live studio audience for any show? How was the experience? I watched a behind the scenes special for the show "FRIENDS" and they said it takes like 5 hours of filming just to get that 1/2 hour episode that you actually see on TV!
I would love to go to a taping of a TV show, but most the shows I'd want to go to already ended years ago

I'm not going to go to any taping soon because I don't live in or close to LA and I have no money to fly out to LA, but I've always wondered, If you went to a live taping of a TV show once, can you get tickets for and go see that same show again and again if you wanted to, or can you only go once?

Yes. I have. Twice. (I was even briefly on TV one of those times.)

I was in the audience for the taping of the X-Factor, at the Gold Coast last year (Queensland, Australia).
One of the contestants was Louis Armstrong's grandson. He was 51, and had a very deep voice and I thought he totally deserved to go through. They said no because of his deep voice. They said he was too much of a niche performer, or some such drivel. I think if they had some courage and creativity, they could have found a way to make something original out of him, but when the show aired, there was no sign of him whatsoever. So disappointing.

The tickets were free, but the wait was a bit long, and it was a bit of a wait between acts, but overall it was still a good time. They have this bloke who's job is to get the audience to do what they want, and I reckon he sure earns his pay. He has a hard job! People are so stupid and thoughtless!

We'll go again this year if we can.

Yes, done it twice.

First time I was plucked from the audience to be a person in the background of a scene because I looked the part, it was great fun and a huge buzz for someone who is shy.

Second time they filmed two episodes of a program I love that's now since finished.

I work at a TV station that produces most of our own content. Mother Angelica Live I ran a camera. Another show that's taped here, I've been a pretend audience member for a talk-show skit. I just had to sit there and clap when the floor director pointed and laugh like somebody said something witty sometimes.

Only the America's Got Talent tapings; when they came to Seattle, I was there.

I went to a talk show taping. They had everyone in the crowd exaggerate their laughter. I enjoy the show but it felt like I was doing a job rather than enjoying the show.

When I was a kid, my school competed on this kids game show called Amazing!. I got to try out as a contestant: I passed the spelling test with ease, but failed the personality test badly. But I still got to be in the audience. It took one day to film a week's worth of half-hour episodes in Brisbane (and my school ended up losing). I remember they had this one woman who psyched up the crowd. And she singled me out when I wasn't being extroverted enough. So I had to fake being super super excited.

Yes I have, in fact we are going to a taping next Tuesday (Big Bang Theory). People seem to think that they are going to see a half-hour episode performed live in front of them like a play. Instead, it's 5+ hours of takes/retakes not necessarily in the chronological order of the actual story. Since they need a live audience to test the jokes, they actually have to hire people whose only job is to prevent people from leaving. It's fun to see the actors and sets in person, but very few people stay the whole time...

I have been to two tapings, the first time for the show, Family matters. My family and I ran into the acress, who played hte grandmother, and she kindly hooked us up. The second time was years later, when I went with a cousin to see the taping of a spanish language Talk show in Miami. The second experiance was hard to sit through as the host was taping two hour long episodes in one day.
