NO SUCH THING AS GENDER SUPERIORITY.
I'm so sick of hearing misogynists say things like "Women would never make good world leaders" and feminists say things like "If we ruled the world we wouldn't have all these problems." Why can't we all realize that the genders are equal in terms of potential. Though men and women may be better at different subjects, they are still equally as smart. How could any misogynist or feminist think either of the genders is sperior to the other? Boggles my mind (but i guess that's just because im a dumb male! Just kidding!)

Actually, I think a study was done that said the average male is smarter then the average female (a few months back).
If this were true, lets humour it, I'd base it on the decision making aspect - Feeling versus thinking. Feeling requires more illogical thought processes to persuade the final decision - logic, well, we know what logic is. Females tend to outrank males on feeling 66% to 33%. Thinking, on the other hand, has males at 66% and females at 33%.
What would happen if women ran the world? If would be a highly communist/social state beyond any hell you could imagine (ok, I'm exaggerating, but most of the females I know preach socialism like its the cure to cancer) ![]()
I agree completely with this statement, both men and women are equals..... Some of the "feminist" talk like I'm sexist, but honestly it's because I state obvious facts that a woman can get a guy a thousand times easier on average than vise versa. But. I also say it's stupid that if a guy gets alot of action he's a "playa" and if a girl gets alot of action she's a "whore".
In general, though this is not always true, but in general men are more logical due to gender psychology, whereas women are more often emotion based. Of coarse, when you look at it, really, all are emotion based......

You are being too general though. There are MANY different types of smart. The study you are talking about may have just tried to test a few different types. For instance, it is well known that men tend to be better at math and science than women. However, women tend to be much better at writing and history than men.

Oh for sure its generalizing. But I would also take into account, if these studies were true, that men have found themselves more involved with decision making - hunting takes intelligence and women do not (to my knowledge) partake in the actual hunting processes (well, historically).
I would like to see how women would run the country, though. If they can beat the greed factor, I'd support whatever it is they throw at me (actually, I still wouldnt unless what they throw at me is complete removal of government)
*dies* I'm sorry, but that joke (at least, i hope it was one...) was too funny not to laugh at.
While I agree that men and women are equal, some people think "equal" means "the same"; it doesn't, of course. The reason men and women are equal is because they are different, with each making up for the others faults.
On a mental standpoint, this is like saying women are usually better at writing and history, while men are good at math and science. I completely agree, and I've seen it in my own home, so I can certainly say this is true enough.
On a physical standpoint, men are characteristically bigger and stronger than women. On the other hand, women ordinarily have more stamina than men (a requirement of childbirth, but also useful in many other ways) and they tend to be more nimble because of their smaller size.
I'm not saying these are absolute truths, and I'm not saying this is always the case, I'm just saying this is the conclusion I've come to based on my own studies. It seems to hold up pretty well, but then again, individual humans are all different.
People are different. There are many differences between men and women, between people from different regions, between old and young people, et cetera. I know it's trendy these days to pretend everyone is the same, but it's just not true.

I agree, and the more we straight away give in to political correctness to smooth that over the more a lot of aspects of society and progress will stay pointed straight toward the rocks. I really think that the reason the divorce rate is so high has a lot to do with the fact that rather than our culture pushing people to do what they should (ie. see marriage as something realistic, not magical, something that has to be worked at, isn't a romance novel, isn't a wife sitting home while you go out with your buddies, etc.) - rather our culture is telling people to cave into their own emotional preferences as much as they want and if its not working out, cut and run. Men and women are definitely not the same, the needs are different, and for us to meet in the middle it takes the knowledge that its not automatic - not even if you are one of those dating guru types who can make the other sex laugh their arse off, keep em in line, etc..
On the intelligence issue, back to wiring - women have more social centers. If 'The Female Brain' is factual in its content the author says something about the fact that when we as guys are in utero, the burst of testosterone we get actually carves out certain parts of our brains, particularly those related to none other than social skills; not that we don't still have enough to go around but its definitely deprioritized. Like all brain damage its recovered but the new braincells in place of them aren't devoted to the same things - it seems likely to be aimed at spatial skills and a lot of things that go hand in hand with being a good hunter. This has a lot to do as well with the way certain things work out developmentally and our later preferences. Speaking in real general terms, both genders prefering both of these things but just in different ratios, women tend to want communication and for guys to talk a lot. Guys tend to want autonomy and to feel like they have their space and their ability to have time to themselves or the right to be themselves. Thats something that ends up messing with a lot of relationships when both sides aren't willing to admit that this is just how the sexes work and that its something we just cope with, not something we either fix our partner or leave em over.
As for the employment field, I had a Business, Society, and Government teacher give us her thoughts on this. She made the point that the differences in how women were paid largely had to do with their job preferences and a lot of it stemmed from the fact that they'd be juggling taking care of the kids with working - in that case, unless they had stay at home husbands, they liked to work in departments that had a lot of time flexibility (ie. one of the kids get sick, have to pick them up from school or various other things). Juggling being a homemaker and a full-time worker is going to have trade-offs like that just because the more convenient a job is the less likely it is to be the highest paying thing in the department.
As for female leaders, lol, depends what her politics are. Would I vote for a female president? Sure. Hillary Clinton heyyell no but if a female candidate ended up on the ballot in 2012 or later who had good points and a good plan there'd be no more or less reason to vote for her than a guy. Especially since there's this, even if women do have a hard emotional roller coaster caused by their cycles a president has to be minimum age 35 and far more often their at least in their early to late 40's at the youngest - they have themselves pretty well figured out by then and most women at that age anyway are headed toward menopause. Even if its a different position, even if it's a woman in her 30's managing a professional team or even at a restaurant, working with female managers from what I've seen I really haven't noticed any great difference in terms of who comes up with more hairbrained ideas - male managers or female. Female managers can be a bit more particular and detail oriented at times but that has its better points as well and it shows you want to have both men and women in the same management team - when the guys get too generalized or overlook the finer details the women straighten them out, when the women get lost on something and the big picture needs to be better served the guys will help balance that out (again, not polarizing, these are subtle things that tend to appear sporadically but seemingly with a good deal of consistency across the gender line).
Here's another example of someone claiming that one gender is more intelligent than the other, though he/she has no sources to back up the claims. This was taken from an anti-bullying website. Look for the sentence that claims "generally women are more intelligent than men."

I don't think men/women are better/smarter then each other (and yes there was that study, but that was within a few points and I'm not a fan of IQ tests although they have some merit). I think men, in general, are better at certain things (like math), and women, in general, are better at certain things (language). It is true there are more male geniuses and more male dummies. The male and female brains have differences I think things like this should be able to be talked about without screaming, "Sexist!"
That doesn't mean a women can't be a great world leader, or a man can't stay at home and raise the kids. There are exceptions to every rule.
On the other hand, saying "you didn't vote for the women in the election because they are women" is petty because we want to think about people for what they represent, not just there sex. In other words, Margaret Thatcher is a lot different then Hillary Clinton.
I've read alot about this and from what I read it has been shown that both men and women have the SAME average intelligence. When they talk about women being smarter or men being smarter they are usually talking about it in reference to certain developmental stages during adolesence. It has been shown that the average 13 year old girl is generally more intelligent than the average 13 year old boy because they mature quicker than males do. Also, I remember reading that the average 18 year old male is generally more intelligent than the average 18 year old female for reasons unknown. But past age 25, both have the SAME average intelligence. Sure, there is the exceptionally smart female and male once in a while, but overall they are the same. Another thing that I read about male and female intelligence is that while they are born with some natural intellectual strengths (i.e. Males are generally better at spatial intelligence and reasoning, while women tend to be better at cognitive and social abilities), it is possible to eliminate the gender gaps between such intelligence (e.g. women have shown an increase in spatial intelligence tests after they played Tetris).
And for those who uphold the belief that "if women were in office, there would be no wars, etc.", they obviously don't know their history very well (One such example would be when the Queen of England went to war with the Qing Dynasty over opium between 1844-48 ).

Yeah, in the book The Female Brain that's another thing they talk about, I think the author sited it as being about a 9% difference. I also heard back in most of my psychology classes that they have thicker corpus collosums (the main connector between the left and right brain).
Check out the links I posted earlier.
The study - carried out by a man - concluded that men's IQs are almost four points higher than women's.
British-born researcher John Philippe Rushton, who previously created a furore by suggesting intelligence is influenced by race, says the finding could explain why so few women make it to the top in the workplace.
He claims the 'glass ceiling' phenomenon is probably due to inferior intelligence, rather than discrimination or lack of opportunity.

"For 100 years there's been a consensus among psychologists that there is no sex difference in intelligence," said J. Philippe Rushton, a psychologist at the University of Western Ontario, Canada.
Recent studies, however, have raised questions about the validity of this claim, he said. One such study showed that men have larger brains than women, a 100 gram difference after correcting for body size. Rushton found similar results in a study of gender and brain size.

Well the way I see it there is reasoning for both male and female. It is more efficient (at least in the past) to split up duties amongst male and female for the overall benefit of the group/family. I think that each has evolved to be as efficient with such tasks as possible. Recent technological/political advancments have made such gender specific roles nearly irrelevant. Now we need biological evolution to catch up. It is true that women have a more complex chemical makeup that predisposes the majority to have "excess" emotions. These are very important for mothering and nurturing, but also such a drawback to logical reasoning. Not all women promote their emotions to the rank of CEO, however. I have known quite a few women to have much more brains than emotions and use it rather well too! I don't believe in superiority/inferiority at all. Everyone is of nature and as such evolves according to how it should for the time being, and if not they are simply deemed unfit for existence and become extinct.
