I've used them both in the past. I preferred the Kaspersky because it had a smaller footprint. Norton just seemed to spread its files all over your computer. Pretty hefty files, too. Technically, they both offered the same level of protection with a few extra caveats thrown in for good measure by Kaspersky. I use Windows 8 now which has Defender built in. It seems to be working well. I've had Windows 8 for about a year already.

Norton = evil!

I'll just stick the fantastic and free Microsoft Security Essentials.

Norton often feels like a second operating system running on top of Windows.

For now on my Windows laptop I just added Microsoft Security Essentials for free. I don't have much experience with Kapersky, but I know I don't like Norton at all.

For now i decided to install 30 day trail version pf Norton, at just after installation it detected trojan, so Microsoft Security Essential is not the best because it don't detected that trojan.

I won't say Security Essentials is particularly wonderful, but it's okay for being free.

I suppose the Paid version of Norton might even catch more viruses. I still think it hogs resources though.

I've heard good things about Kaspersky.

Also, my new computer came with some Norton stuff preinstalled, it kept nagging me all the time about buying the full product (which I actually kind of understand) or buying other Norton products (which is not ok to me)

Avast is free and nice and I would probably buy the full version if I actually needed any of the things it has to offer.

I already had Norton installed on my computer and this is what happened:
1. Boot times got longer
2. Computer usage was an outrage!

3. Successful at removing viruses but no ergonomy.

Conclusion: Kaspersky is a lot better! Had it for 2 years, quite impressed.

I use ESET Smart Security here. I have *NEVER* been nailed by anything since.

Kaspersky's CEO ticked me off.. He said everyone's computers should be monitored and I ditched his software in a heartbeat.

BTW: ESET Smart Security is built by the same people who made NOD32 back in the day.

Norton doesn't even deserve to be considered. Go with Kaspersky.

Details please.

No antivirus is perfect so you still have to take some responsibility when something bad infects your machine.

Ad-Aware is still going? I remember last time I was working with computers, it was obsolete.

This. I've been using Avast for 4 years and it has yet to disappoint me.
