I don't know if this is the right place to put it but it seemed like a good choice.

I recently found out that one of my aspergers symptoms was not actually part of my aspergers. Its actually a disorder called Misophonia.
This link explain it a bit. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Misophonia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Misophonia misophonia.com/symptoms-triggers/

I have been struggling with it for all of my life and I didn't even know it was a problem until about 5 years ago when the noises of my class mates sent me to the school nurse in tears unable to explain why something as simple as a noise could trigger the worst feelings in me.

I just wonder if there is anyone else on here that has the same problem. Or if you know anyone that does. If not we can talk about the noises you don't like. I probably don't like them either. I can't stand most noises.

I don't have such an intense hatred of/hard time with noises as you.
Of course, I can get frustrated and anxious from loud motorcycles (they're awful.. just awful..), or even the vacuum-cleaner.
However, what does annoy me to no end at times is seeing someone plucking the same part of skin over and over, or constant movements with one's foot or so.
It becomes and annoyance when it is someone sitting next to me, because that way I see it the entire time and I hear it as well.

I don't like the vacuum-cleaner sometimes either but motorcycles are not a problem for me. I think if I didn't love motorcycles in general the noise would be annoying. I can understand it.

Movements I can usually stand unless I am in really bad shape, then when someone is making a movement, in my head I will hear the noise that goes with it or it will drive me crazy fearing that they will make the noise on accident.

How do you deal with those things?

Most of the time I get away when possible, because it won't become less of a bother to me anyway.
When I can't get out of the way I'll ask the person that's making the movements/sounds to stop doing so--I'll say it's making me nervous.
It is making me nervous actually, but more annoyed and uncomfortable. I'll lay emphasis on getting nervous, because I have found that it works best when said this way.

Seemingly, the most common reaction in general on people constantly tapping feet or clicking with a pen is saying that it "makes you nervous".
Therefore, I'll say it in that way, because people will categorize their behavior in the same manner they categorize the common nervosity from clicking pens.

I don't know if you can understand exactly what I mean. My head is a bit clouded at the moment, it's a very busy time.

I hate the sound of doors slamming shut. It causes my heart to jump.

I hate the sounds of balloons popping. They sound like gun shots when they pop, and it always startled me. I guess it started when I got a balloon animal at the mall when I was very little. When part of it popped, it was very loud and I started to cry. I usually kept my distance from balloons since then.

I thought I might have some degree of misophonia in the past, before I found out about AS.

I hate the sound of people talking, the sound of televisions, cars, and some machines, especially beeping or hissing machines.

I have Audio Processing Disorder. It's hard to listen to people when there is a lot of noise in the room or I have headphones on.

I only haev problems with suond as part of spd - if there is to much noise in oen place, I get overloaded. Generaly it is only man-made suond - so cities are a definite no and airplannes at take-off or landing can maek me overload and sometiems even just being on a busy road where cars/truks roar past. Whenevre I go visit cities with my siblngs, I maek sure to have earmuffs or headphoens on becuse that helps dull the sounds.

Loud motorcycles
Car horns
My door bell
Dogs barking
Sirens passing me
The totally awful loud high pitch tone that is use to alert our operators when the emergency heart attack phone is ringing. It's located right above the bathroom entrance in our area. It's bad when I'm in my office with the door closed, but if it goes off when I come out of the bathroom or anywhere near it, it hurts.

Beppieiscool, do you mean listen or understand? I suppose they go hand in hand. For instance I cannot at all follow a conversion if there is a lot of noise. I can't understand what they are saying. I went to a restaurant with my brother and sisters, and my son. It was super noisy. People talking, music playing. After failing to hear or understand anything that was being said, my son and I pulled out the Magic The Gathering cards and played a game. At one point our waitress was trying to tell me something, and I could not understand her. Finally, she sort of walked off. My younger sister really mad and reported that she had been rude. Evidently the waitress say "Whatever." and just walked of. I would have just let it go, because I could understand it must have been frustrating for her as well, but my sister let it be known that she was not happy the way the waitress treated me. She's so awesome.

I hate music in general. I realize that I also hate the intention of the people behind the music they listen to. They think it's ok to impose their music on other people. If I complain about it they think I'm the one being selfish for trying to stop their music. They don't realize that it really distresses me.

I also hate the engine noise in general, particularly car/bus/truck engine noise. That noise distresses me a lot to the point where I taste some salty taste on my tongue (though most people may not understand what I mean by that, but that's my experience).

I've been using ear plugs for quite a long time, but I think I've been pushing them too far into my ear canals and done some damage to them. I have made an appointment to see a doctor about it.

I bought a pair of noise-cancelling headphones a few days ago. David Jones had it on special - 10% off.

I can't stand listening to the sound of a person's voice. I don't hate a person's voice. I just hate all the potential mouth sounds a person can make most of which while talking. Lip smacking is the most common.

squeeks and rattles in old rattletrap automobiles driven over rough roads, that would have to be the worst for me, aside from saws of any kind, then rap music.

I absolutely cannot STAND the high, screechy and whiny voices that children and even some women have. In fact, yesterday my mother took me to the mall to get a new bathing suit (ugh), and some kids were yelling and screaming at their mother about something, and I couldn't stand it any more and I screamed back at them to SHUT UP!! ! :wall: I really hate how the mothers do nothing to quiet their kids and let them be obnoxious, they should be banned from all public places, or put in some room where they're baby-sat so the rest of us can shop in peace.
