I went shopping in Target today and saw a copy of the new SimCity game. It's about designing your own city. I liked the older one, so despite negative reviews I went home to actually order my copy online.

I have an earlier version, the one that simulates a city inhabited by arsonists, I could never afford the amount of firefighters I needed to stop the never ending fires so I gave up on it.

I used to play this a lot back when I was a kid! :)

I haven't played the game myself, but I've read that much of the poor reception has to do with the always-online DRM and the various aspects of the online play as opposed to the gameplay itself. Although I could be completely wrong in this respect. I've played several of the other main SimCity games (the original, SimCity 2000, and SimCity 4). SimCity 4 was the first one I actually got to play on a PC, so I prefer that game. The level of detail, especially in the newer games, definitely doesn't lend itself to console gaming.
