Oh, there are plenty of video games that require both. Saying that there arent is, frankly, a rather silly assumption and generalization.

Of course, the problem with the industry these days is that so many people know only of the big mainstream games, usually only on consoles, at that. I personally like games that encourage careful thinking, creativity, and exploration, but..... yeah, I dont find many of those (or any, really) if I only look there. But as I actually do know where to look, it's not really a problem. I also prefer games with a very high level of challenge.

That being said, "creativity" is rarely needed among retro games (or at least what I consider to be retro games).

As for tabletop games, which I'm assuming is what you mean, ehhhhh..... in theory, they're interesting to me, but.... I'd never get a group set up for that. Not around my place. It just wouldnt happen. Most of my friends are extremely stereotypical Xbox Live FPS fanboy types. Needless to say, I dont do much in the way of multiplayer here.

Though, my extremely limited patience level probably would mean that I wouldnt exactly make the best group member for that sort of game anyway. I tend to be the sort that'd go "Aaaaaaargh, everyone stop talking already!" followed by dashing into whatever the situation is and wildly attacking anything that moves. And everything that doesnt move, just in case it were thinking about moving. Doesnt help that I'm pretty darn bad at all social things, too. Still, it'd be nice to have a chance to try it at some point. Not over the Net though. I know that's doable, but the idea bugs me.

Anyway, on topic here, hmmmmmmmmm......

Well, I love most games on the Atari 2600, a few favorites being:

Reactor
Demon Attack
Jungle Hunt
Mario Bros
Space Jockey
Solaris
Jr Pac-man
too many others to list

And I love old arcade games as well:

Jungler
Galaxian
Galaga
Jungle King
Burgertime
Moon Patrol
Popeye
Zoo Keeper
Robotron
Mr. Do!
Juno First
Devil Fish
Major Havoc
Q*Bert
Bubbles

And NES games:

Metroid
The Goonies 2
Super Mario Bros (the first one being my favorite)
Ice Climbers
Kid Icarus
Clu Clu Land
Sqoon
Zanac
Xexyz
Ikari Warriors
Urban Champion
And way, way too many others to list

There's much more, but.... yeah. Too many. Way too many. Those 3 categories are the big ones for me though.

Super Metroid (actually my number one favorite game of all time) which I play a lot and even try for the speed runs although so far 3 hours is the best ( I know totally awful). I am working on getting it down to 2 hours. I know the record is 45 minutes or so. And I think it is 100% speed run in 45 minutes. Totally doable.

Shadow Man (N64 , PC)

Fallout 1 and 2

Any of the original Mega Man games.

Zelda: Link to the Past (so cannot wait for the new 3DS game which is going to be pretty much a reboot of this game)

Chrono Trigger

Final Fantasy 4,5, 6, 8, and 9 (sorry no 7 which is my least favorite) It kills me what Square has done to FF.

RE 1, 2, and 3

Soul Reaver

Yes I consider PS games to be retro anything 2 generations or older is retro in my opinion.

I could name so many but these are my favorites.

Actually it's a new story that takes place in the same overworld. I don't know about the dark world, but the dungeons and puzzles and everything are going to be brand new.

My best run is around 85% with a "game clock" time of just under 2 hours.

My favorites in that series are the second, third, and sixth. I have the carts for 2, 3, and 4, but can't find 1, 5, or 6 for any reasonable price.
