There are more that just board and video games.
There are actually games that require both thought and creativity.
Oh, there are plenty of video games that require both. Saying that there arent is, frankly, a rather silly assumption and generalization.
Of course, the problem with the industry these days is that so many people know only of the big mainstream games, usually only on consoles, at that. I personally like games that encourage careful thinking, creativity, and exploration, but..... yeah, I dont find many of those (or any, really) if I only look there. But as I actually do know where to look, it's not really a problem. I also prefer games with a very high level of challenge.
That being said, "creativity" is rarely needed among retro games (or at least what I consider to be retro games).
As for tabletop games, which I'm assuming is what you mean, ehhhhh..... in theory, they're interesting to me, but.... I'd never get a group set up for that. Not around my place. It just wouldnt happen. Most of my friends are extremely stereotypical Xbox Live FPS fanboy types. Needless to say, I dont do much in the way of multiplayer here.
Though, my extremely limited patience level probably would mean that I wouldnt exactly make the best group member for that sort of game anyway. I tend to be the sort that'd go "Aaaaaaargh, everyone stop talking already!" followed by dashing into whatever the situation is and wildly attacking anything that moves. And everything that doesnt move, just in case it were thinking about moving. Doesnt help that I'm pretty darn bad at all social things, too. Still, it'd be nice to have a chance to try it at some point. Not over the Net though. I know that's doable, but the idea bugs me.
Anyway, on topic here, hmmmmmmmmm......
