I believe that would look strange to them. I think I would notice if someone's focus was looking at me cross-eyed.

A less noticeable approach is to center your focus between their eyes and then let your vision unfocus as they talk. That way you aren't picking up too much visual information while trying to listen, you can focus on the details better, and the person you're talking to thinks your eye contact is outstanding! True witness. ^_^

I look at mouths. People can't really tell the difference. 8O

I have very dark brown eyes so I can get away with lip watching. I have been working on eye contact for a while now. Its progressing slowly.

I look at mouths too, and the counselor noticed, but the psychologist didn't. Everybody else I think just doesn't really care.
