Have you ever been called "too nice"? Do you think you are too nice for your own good?

I often think that... I sometimes get the impression that if I acted like an a**hole more of the time it would make my life a helluva lot easier. But acting like an a**hole just doesn't work. It's just not natural for me.

There are alot of in betweens besides those two.
If you become too much of an a**hole you wil become hated.
If you are too nice you wil get stepped on and used.
I'm usually somewhere in the middle.
It mostly just depends on who i am dealing with.

Believe it or not, I HAVE been. I don't act that way so much anymore though. But I DID act that way well into my 30s!

I usually end up calling myself too nice, but i suppose it's better than being not nice enough, that and i have unrealistic standards.

With people I'm either "Too Nice" or "Too Mean".

People can't make their mind up over me whether I'm nice or nasty, so they just call me fat, weird and anti-social and leave it at that.

I think the middle's the place to be. That's where I generally stay. I try to be tactful and always to remember to ask myself if what I'm about to say is apt to hurt the other person's feelings or make him/her angry, and if so I search for another way to say what I want to say. But I don't pretend to agree with people just to be "nice." I'd end up not liking myself.

I have that problem, and for a long time I let people walk all over me. Now I say something and tell the person they are being rude but that only seems to piss them off. I guess people become accustom to the way someone acts and if they act different other people will compare their current actions to their past actions and think that the nice person is being the rude one. I feel that mean people have it easier, and they seem to make friends while being mean too.

Yes, and it is chronic. I have known all my life that I have social difficulties. And I s'pose that I have learned that I will oft take a stand - that is entirely unnecessary. So I am quite often the road kill. But my trouble about being a bit less nice is that I truly do not know when to apply that method.

Yes, some people have said that. And to be honest, hearing them say that makes me a bit uncomfortable because they've noticed something noticeably different about my behavior than an average person. It's a compliment, but it doesn't go too well with me nonetheless.

Not even an Aspie would call me too nice. It would be quite humorous if someone did.

Sometimes. Hey, Demonic Duck, is that from EGS? If you read that as three random letters, please ignore :)

I've been told that I'm "too nice" as well, and that I tend to apologize for stuff too much, even things I have no control over. The apologizing thing came from that abusive relationship where I was blamed for everything, even things that were clearly not my fault. I've gotten better at not apologizing too much, but it still happens.

I haven't been told that. People who are too nice are usually just too passive and submissive and get treated like doormats.
