Why is WP full of old people?

Why is Wrong Planet full of old people? Like people who are 30+. I thought you people didn't even know how to use the internet, let alone turn on a computer. I thought only kids were diagnosed.

Lets calculate: Internet becoming general mass-media during 1995-2000. Difference of 2013 and 1995 = 18 years...

Whats exactly lets you think, that we were not able to use something, that was mostly built the way its actually is now, when we were teens and young adults? ^^ And we did not have tools for everything then, we had to still learn the basic rules of webpage design ourselves, by creating them with HTML. ^^

Thats as if I would think that actual teenagers were not able to use smartphone apps. ^^

About the youngies, there is a special kids and adolescent forum here, as well as teenie posters in the general forums. The amount is simply smaller because here are people from all ages, while being teenie is only about a very limited time. So when there are posters from all ages from about 14 - 65 its statistical very likely that the ones with age 14-19 are a smaller group. Specially when its not about an forum that is not about an "actual" topic as new released films or other stuff, that might more interest a younger audience, but a general topic that affects people from all ages.

And how old is 18 in Mongoose years?

Just my opinion, I think it's because adults have less support and this site is really the only support for adults. It's really a sad thing that adults don't have any other outlets except an internet forum, but that's the sad truth right now. I hope one day adults can have the same support that children do.

1)Aspergers Syndrome was added to the DSM in 1994- almost 20 years ago. The original cohort of people diagnosed in the 90's while in their teens will be >30 by now.

2)The ages 15-30 is only a 15 year span. I chose 15 because it seems a common age to start posting in General although a few posters are younger. But the ages 30-70 is a 40 year span so it will naturally have far more people in it. There are a couple posters >70.

3)Anecdotally on this board, there are people who got an Aspergers diagnosis when >30, although that seems more difficult and therefore less frequent than getting it while younger. However, this board also has many self diagnosed people, which will bring up the >30 numbers.

4)I've been using a computer since before you were born, young whippersnapper. Most likely so have most of the other older posters.

Meh. I got no support as a child. Without my diagnosis though, I think I would've killed myself, or at least tried to.

I'm glad your diagnosis helped you get through tough times. The only reason why I assumed that children got more support is because every time I read anything about autism, it's about a child with it. I don't read too many articles about an adult that has it. It's as if people don't realize that adults can have it too or maybe readers aren't as interested with reading about an adult that has autism, not sure. And by the way, I didn't get support as a child either because I wasn't diagnosed until I was an adult, so I guess we are on the same boat, and I'm sorry you had to suffer like I did, I was hoping that people that got an early diagnosis were living better lives, but maybe not.

39 is not old.

This site is swamped by vast bottomless hordes of people under 18, under 30, whatever. So you're obviously blind if you can't find them.

Since when is 30 considered old? I'm 20 and I don't consider 30 year olds to be old. I didn't two years ago either. 50+ is old to me.

Oh my, yes, dearie! I am 39 and so very old. I should be in a rest home right now knitting sweaters in my rocking chair instead of on this thigamajiggy called a com-pu-ter! Back in my day we didn't have no see-dee players, neither. We listened to things called re-cords! And we didn't carry those phone things around us everywhere we went, and they didn't have no push-buttons neither, dagnabbit!

No, no. It must have been at least 2004, because WoW was then released. Before that, internet did not exist and we only had the "whack a mole" games we played with our Neanderthal clubs.
