Yes. That's a genuine screenshot of how bad they can be. Sometimes, the banners can be even bigger than that one.

Fun fact: The majority of people who come here are Autistic. No, really - it's true.

Many Autistic people have sensory issues, and having a large banner that flashes in and out of existence, moves around the page and changes size depending on how far the user is zoned in could potentially be a huge issue. Just like the audio ads were a big issue years ago, I feel that these are just as bad, and I'm sure most people will agree with me here.

I use an ad-blocking DNS server, so it doesn't affect me, but for many iOS users, the experience of browsing WP is an awful one. One person has already considered leaving the site because of this. It is not reasonable to expect anyone to tolerate large, flashing banners in the middle of their screen while browsing the site.

This would be a serious problem on any site, but even more so on a site frequented by people likely to have sensory issues. Something needs to be done about this as soon as possible.

Doesn't seem to bother me that much?

This is hands down the worst site I browse on my phone. They are annoying, big and I accidentally hit them all the time. This is not an autistic thing. Anyone would be annoyed.

I have to agree. This is my first post and I came here for help and if this isn't sorted then I don't think I'll be staying long.

My experience of the ads on here are so bad I literally have to close the tab that had wrongplanet.net open and start again by inputting the address in the address bar. The ads literally hijack the tab I have open making it impossible to navigate back to wrongplanet.net without doing the above.

Fix this please.

It's okay on my laptop as I have AdBlock plus, but today on my Kindle the site was unusable because of intrusive ads popping so large they obscured the log in field and didn't even have an X in the corner. I wound up unable to achieve log in on my Kindle.

But then on my laptop I'm constantly logged out even though I've checked the box.

I appreciate the site existing, and I know Alex has to pay bills, but there are lots of technical problems here.

I can't see the original screenshot.

This seems to be a problem on many websites right now. My advice is to download a browser with built-in ad-blocking capabilities, such as Dolphin. Obviously that isn't possible right now.

I also recommend petitioning Alex directly, and I believe he may be able to disable certain types of advertising.

I will try out Dolphin for my Kindle browser -- thanks for the tip!

On my mobile device I wasn't able to use this site due to the ads. I clicked links for these ads by accident when trying to post/just navigate, they are positioned so that this will happen, not at all ergonomically designed for people who may have coordination difficulties.
Then unfortunately clicking on links on this website started to redirect me to all sorts of sites, it became very frustrating.

Ad block plus only works for iPhone5S onwards, so I installed the Adblock browser and only the banner ads are visible now.
Much better.

That may be because the OP is almost 3-years-old, and it seems that the OP (user) hasn't been here, for over 2 years, and he may have deleted his pics.
