That game is hard but amazing. Ninja Gaiden Black was easily my favorite Xbox game.

If you're playing the game on it's default difficulty, hmm.... it's not as hard as it looks. I beat that mode some time ago. Takes alot of practice though and the bosses can be very irritating. The whole game is mostly about reacting to things quickly, both by dodging and blocking, and knowing when to strike and with what attack.

Seriously though, if you really practice at it, I think you will indeed find it's not nearly as tough as it looks, and you WILL beat it sooner or later. There is one very specific boss in the game where most players tend to get stuck for quite awhile, but it's one of those bosses where there's sorta a trick to dodging her patterns; figure out how to do them, and she actually becomes one of the easier ones. I still hate her though. Alot.

Bloody amazing game though. I've always absolutely loved it.

;)

I haven't played it long enough for it to get difficult, only the original NES one =|

Everyone always talked about Alma being the hardest boss, but for me, the hardest is that damn dragon in the lava pit.

I remember reading that only one member of Team Ninja was ever able to beat it on the Master Ninja difficulty.

Then there was the initial release of Ninja Gaiden 3. Y'know, where the "Hard" difficulty was easier than the easiest difficulty in Ninja Gaiden II. Why is one game listed with an Arabic number and the other one gets a Roman? Team Ninja has to go all the way with their inconsistencies here.

Yeah, Alma is the one I was talking about. Also the other version of her that appears later.

It's not so much that she's difficult, it's moreso that her particular attack patterns can easily catch players who simply dont know what to do about them, and who then often have a hard time figuring them out. Once you understand what to do, she's one of the easier bosses to beat if you're careful. Annoying as hell, but still easier than most of the others.

Also, Ninja Gaiden on the NES.... yes, definitely a pain in the ass. That one had what may be the two most bloody irritating enemies in any platformer there ever was (aside from Castlevania's Medusa Heads, which are the absolute PEAK of annoying), which are the dashing football jerks, and the Goddamn Birds.

I got to the final stage, died a billion times, turned off my NES, put the cart back in my drawer, and haven't touched it since.
