For one thing, George W. Bush is our President here in the US, and I'm not too crazy about him because he is a Republican. I want sweeping change because I am a Democrat and I am hoping for a Democrat president this year. Also, why do guns have to exist in this world? I thought Rosie O'Donnell was the nicest person in the world until she endorsed K-Mart and I found out they sold guns there. Why do people have to be killed in this world?
Also, why are there so many reality shows on TV lately? I don't like "Survivor!" Why aren't very many of the good TV shows like "Who Wants to be a Millionaire" on anymore?
Case in point, everything is changing but it is changing for the worse. Why?
Sorry to hear you're down but it seems like your perception is changing for the worse, not reality.
It doesn't really matter if it's a Republican or Democrat, either one will sell their soul for more power. Vietnam was just as big a mess as Iraq (worse if you count the cost in human life) and US involvement grew exponentially under Kennedy and Johnson (Democrats) and ended by Nixon (Republican). Politics works like this: Whatever ideas the party in power has, the opposition will disagree with, regardless of how correct it is or not. They don't advocate principles, they crave power, and the only way to get that is to get rid of those who have it.
As for Rosie and guns? What did you base the fact that you thought she was nice on? She's an actor, or worse yet "celebrity". Her (and the many sycophants working for her) job is to get you to believe what she wants. But how does her endorsement of a company that sells guns affect that? K-Mart also sells Band-Aids, clothes, and home furnishings. If you're looking for a reason to dislike someone, you'll find it, so don't look too hard.
Guns exist for a number of reasons, not all of them good or bad. A recent example happened yesterday in Utah. Someone killed five people, a horrible event. The police were able to prevent the deaths of many other innocents by shooting the murderer. True, if there wasn't the original gun to begin with there wouldn't have been so much damage. But there's no point arguing that fact, guns have been in existance for a couple hundred years, and there's no getting rid of them. And people were murdered in horrifying fashion long before the advent of guns.
"Who Wants to be a Millionaire" IS a reality show, and it's still on, just in the afternoon. And the reason it's not on in Prime Time is because the ratings were low. Networks give the population what they want. Unless your TV buttons are broken, you don't have to watch "Survivor".
Yes things change, but not always for the worse. Imagine going back to a world with no internet (vital communication for Aspies!), and no anti-biotics (would you prefer leeches to cure your illness?). It was less than 40 years ago that blacks and whites were segregated in schools and public accomodations. I have a telephone that can download TV shows, listen to music, and send messages to my friends. It wasn't even 20 years ago that I was impressed by my parent's answering machine.
Things are changing, it's inevitable. But not everything is bad, unless that's all you look for.
