More accurately, I need help with a lack of a secret. You see, when someone is hiding something, there are usually certain tells that an NT might pick up on more easily than we would. However, I've found that while I have a very distinctive set of tells, the vast majority of the time NTs are unable to determine wether or not I'm telling the truth. They say I have a "detatched gaze". I recently asked a retired police officer who routinely searches me on behalf of the district what he thought of me demeanor. He said that I always came off to him as "calm" and "contemplative".

So, I routinely have this really annoying problem. Sometimes, someone thinks I'm hiding something when I'm not. When I insist that nothing is wrong, they tell me that they can tell I was lying because my eyes "were glazed over". In their minds, it only confirms that I'm up to something. This usually leads to a series of really unpleasant events that usually include my regular searches being "enhanced" and made to occur more frequently. In extreme situations, I may even be forced to "go on vacation" to a facility about 15 miles from here.

It recently occured to me that I can use one of the tactics I regularly employ when I actually do have something to hide. I could confess to doing something that I didn't do in order to to convince them to stop investigating whatever they think is going on. I don't know what I should say I did though. I'd say I've been smoking pot, but I might get arrested or something. I could say I joined another cult, but it'd take a lot of preparation to get people to believe it and I may not have the time for it. Also, I really don't want my family to worry about me. I could also lie about something fetish related. People usually don't investigate those unless it's pedophilia or necrophilia or something similarly evil/illegal.

So, my questions to you are these: What should I falsely confess to doing? Also, if you have a way to get out of this without incriminating myself, what is it?

If I were you I'd just tell them that they're wrong. I'd explain that they shouldn't read me as they read NT's, because the expressions aren't the same with aspies. If they wont believe in you, that should be only their problem, not yours.

Making up a lie is kinda hard. They wouldn't necessarily even believe a fake secret. If they notice that you're lying about your secret, that could make them think that you hide something even more that they did before.
