Debating financial cost aside (lets say I can afford either ONE 100%). Wii U lets say 6 yr. cycle so 2012-2018 PS4 (sony PS brand) usually 10 yr. cycles so 2013-2023. Nintendo is already into 2 yrs. nearly 3 (2015) so half way through there cycle nearly and we all know that last year SUCKS so lets say 5 yrs.

Unlike Sony games Nintendos aren't overall made that many. Pokemon 5 yrs. down the line that game is $40+ USED! FE Gamecube is $100 the same for FE GBA they don't print as many Nintendo games unless the name Mario or Zelda MAIN SEIRES titles are out there. GTA's RDR's Naught Dogs MGS of the Sony world will be 1 billion copies Nintendo not so much (which is why I grabbed FE:A ASAP and plan to stick to yearly Pokemon titles as not to pay $40 USED a few years down the line.)

BUT! I don't want to just own Nintendo like I did during the GCN era. Most 3rd parties while YES Nintendo too weren't made as much for them so had to scrounge around Gamestop for PoP trilogy USED at while PS2 copies were in abundance.

That yearly cycle issue is getting to me cost not a factor. Zelda is IN MY NAME FOR A REASON! But Naughty Dog IMO = Pixar. LOVED MGS,UC,GTA so sequels to those AAA titles are AWESOME but again 1 billion will be around of them not so much for Nintendo. BUT Nintendo is at $250 surely less by end of those 5 yrs. Not so much Sony already at $400 what will it eventually reach $200? MAYBE????

What do you think and why would you pick one or the other???

I bought a Wii U. I felt it was too early to even consider a PS4 or XB1. They're still too expensive and the games aren't really there. No console should ever be bought in its first year for those reasons. There hasn't been a console that was worth buying in the first year since the Dreamcast.

The gaming press seems to have a major grudge against the Wii U, posting articles daily about how it has no good games and it isn't selling well and it's totally doomed to fail and Nintendo should get out of the aware business, etc, etc. And yet I've been enjoying the hell out of Lego City Undercover, Super Mario 3D World, New Super Mario Bros. U, Mario Kart 8, and Rayman Legends.

Just get whatever's got the games you want. Systems aren't great; games are.

the 360 was nice in '06'07.
fear, gears of war, oblivion, condemned is okay, hitman, lost planet.
gamecube had luigi's mansion, star fox, metroid, mario kart, splinter cell.

Honestly, though, if I had o choose, it'd probably be a PS4, as I don't have a proper PC, and also the Last of Us.

The Wii U can be had for pretty cheap so I shouldn't have to decide between them.

Nintendo would be my choice of the two. I don't even see the point of buying Sony/Microsoft consoles anymore; for what you'd spend on their crap hardware, you could build a pretty decent gaming rig and choose all the parts for yourself.

In the good old days, consoles used to be a unique experience; every game on every system would be different; if you bought a Sega Master System you had a very different gaming experience from someone who owned a NES, but now Sony and Microsoft release consoles that do exactly the same things and the experience is almost identical no matter which system you buy.

I'm a sucker for Nintendo exclusives, so I'd go with a Wii U. Nintendo is the only company nowadays that makes consoles that actually interest me. For AAA, "serious" games, I generally prefer the PC.

I own a PS4 and I believe that it's a good console for certain genres of games like Racing, Platforming and the like. It's up to you which console you want to get, though.

wii u $300, xbox/ps4 $400. an extra 100 isn't too much more in this day and age. the ps3 when it came out was $600, the xbox360 $500 the wii was what 250. this generation it isn't a big gap esspecially considering the wii us is about the same power as the 360 and doesn't get AAA games just in company games.

for me I went ps4vs xbox one. I got the ps4 cause I think the exclusive titles better fit me last of us, uncharted 4. I am looking forward to the AAA titles, Division, MGS5, minecraft, the tom clancy game where you attack a defending team, watch dogs, BF4, star wars battle front, BF5, fallout 4, elder scrolls, etc.

can't go those on the wii u. if the next gen Nintendo is all the rumors say then I may consider it in 3-5 years, but the reality is there may not be a next gen consoles.

if you super love Nintendo first party games, then go wii u

My parents got me a WII U, I mainly play it for Zelda games, and no much else (I'm not a Mario fan or a Pokemon fan.) However, my main big gripe about this console is that they don't have a ton of other games that I'm interested in, and I wish that they would add more 'serious' games to their roster, and not just a boatload of Mario titles or kiddy games every other year.

There is not a day that goes by that I wish I could play on it certain titles like Quake 4, Halo (I know it's Microsoft, but still) and anything off of Steam and so on.

But I can't, which really stinks. :?

Good point. Zelda is my namesake yes but I'm not 100% sold on Zelda Wii U plus it's Fall 2015 dare I say 2016 and at the rate of sales Wii U should hit $200 before Zelda comes out.

PS4 has nothing I want NOW! But WILL HAVE KH 3 GTA 6 RDR 2 EVERYTHING Naughty Dog MGS V FF series. But I'd be missing out on my namesake and Mario. Miyamoto said he had ideas for 3DS Zeldas (more of them) so it seems the 3DS isn't done yet so there's that. OR they could be moved to a new portable system. Just nothing PS4 NOW so it'd be an investment for the next 9 yrs. of gaming. Plus I'm willing to bet this generations innovation will be SUPER HD systems not on Wii U. PS2 had GTA 3 PS3 gen had Gears of War cover shooting. PSOne had FFVII. Could be wrong but I'm doubting it. Plus with sales trumping Wii U I'm sure game making will skyrocket on PS4. :-)

PS4. Why buy a machine with outdated tech even with the fact you can play Nintendo originals on it?

I play mostly Nintendo, but I recommend a PS4 anyways because of the Wii U's lack of third party support, among other things.

it has uncharted, killzone, last of us, the order 1886, No Man's Sky, little big planet 3, a zombie game they are working on, racing games , and probably others but that's all I can think of. they suppose to get titan fall 2 too.
