I've always liked being different than everyone else, and I was really happy honestly when I was diagnosed with Aspergers. Though a recurring fear that returns when I'm trying to sleep or when doing nothing of any interest is that I'll somehow lose my individuality, and by extension my Aspergers. It honestly scares me senseless. It is an essential part of me. I don't want to lose it. Does anyone else have a fear like this?

There is nothing to worry about, you really can't lose being autistic, but I know how powerful our ability to focus is, and so when we get hold of a negative thought, we can get a negative emotional response really fast. You should consider learning to focus your thoughts more specifically on the things you feel wonderful about :) There is no "meditation" in the sense of no thought process in my autistic experience, so I find it very important to focus my thoughts on the things I love :) Also, I do my best to either not do things I don't love to do, or to find reasons to love what I have to do :)

Unless they make a cure and you take it, you will never lose being autistic. So yea, you don't have anything to worry about.

i wouldn't wither, sure, i hate not being able to connect with people i want to know better and i've freaked about it lots of times before, but it won't matter as much in the future when i stop caring. the deep interests, and my significant other (ONE person) will be my source of pleasure.

i don't think you'll lose anything if you're not actively working on something you enjoy, regarding technical skill, you'll likely get rusty of you stay away from it for too long but it will come back.
