Do any of you have problems with reading comprehension? I was just wondering if people with autism deal with this. Basically, you have a hard time processing written words or things you have read. If you were to ask me about the book I had just read, it'd be hard for me to tell you what it was about.

Do you do anything to help yourself stay on track or read more slowly? It still helps me to put a paper or a ruler under each line. Sometimes my eyes kind of "zone out" and I will see all the lines at once, or I skip lines. Sometimes, I read too fast.

All my problems get better if I slow down. Then, when I get into a groove and get used to reading, I can go faster.

I have problems recollecting anything pretty much everything I've read or watched.

I also have problems reading and keeping track of lines, especially I move to a next line. Also quite often letters seem to disappear or I have difficulty forming them into meaningful shapes.

I think this issue does fall into the Autism "tent".

I have issues comprehending sentences. I get easily confused if the sentence is not straight forward and I have to sit there and re read the sentence many times to even grasp a but of it.

Math and technical things are the worst for me.

Yes, but it depends on what I'm reading. If I'm invested in it, I will have much better comprehension.

I have a terrible time reading. he individual words, I'm fine with, but it's when I come to making sense out of all the words put together.

It's what's held me back all these years.
