Ok I want to know, is there anybody out there who is like me and didn't even notice the "issues" with Samus's personality in Metroid Other M? Also spoilers for pretty much all of Other. The monotone doesn't bother me, I mean Samus having social differences even makes sense,
(spoiler for the metroid manga)

Also maybe she is on the spectrum? It is never said otherwise, also with the whole Ridley thing, this is the first time Samus says anything in game, so we actually don't know if Samus has a breakdown every time she faces Ridley or not. Also I know I would freak out if I found out that the mystery monster that has been me and my friends is actually the monster who killed my parents and who I thought I had killed like five times over. And lets not forget to mention Samus is also probably highly stressed, she is working with other people for the first time in a long time, her friends are being systematically killed off by and unknown being, also the commander of the group she's working with is also her former senior officer to whom she is emotionally attached too. So I think Samus not being the calm collected heroine we expected her to be is forgivable. The only problem I have with the story is Adam dying. (told you spoilers.) Samus should have been the one to do it, her suit is obviously capable of being in a vacuum as shown in the beginning of Metroid Prime, she could have set off the self destruct, blown a hole in the hull of the lab, and had Adam fly his ship around to come pick her up, or just used her remote to bring her gunship around. That's the only problem story wise that I have with the game.
What do you guys think? Does Samus's personality in Other M bother you? Please comment and discuss.

Yes, it does bother me. Samus Aran is supposed to be a badass, yet Other M constantly puts her in a very stereotypical role. She does those "dear diary" confession monologues, she has daddy issues with Adam, she practically wets herself when she sees Ridley even though she's killed him so many times by that point that she should be confident about her ability to do so again....and while I understand her being upset over the baby Metroid's sacrifice, Samus acts like she just had a miscarriage and lost her own child which imo just doesn't fit. Also, while agreeing to not use her most powerful weapons unless given the OK makes sense, it was stupid and nonsensical to also not use her armor upgrades unless told to.

Plus, spoiler or not, Adam had to die. We know from Fusion that he died, as Samus's new gunship used Adam for it's AI...

It wasn't that bad.
We all know she feared Ridley and hated Space Pirates.

It was the dialog and some of the control issues that bothered me.

I haven't played it. It looked weird and non-Metroid, and then it came out and everyone said it was bad...

...still, I probably should've got it when it was $5.

Technically Fusion is IV and Other M is V (even though it technically takes place before Fusion).

Other M isn't bad, the gameplay is ok, the dialog is hit and miss.

The dialog was dreadful....and I hated the controls almost as much as the controls to the DS & Wii Zelda games ( especially the bs missile controls... )

I still need to play it. Everyone says it's terrible, but I want to try it for myself just to see.

The personality kinda bugs me too, as well as the gameplay. We can totally blame Yoshio Sakamoto for it. Team Ninja was essentially forced to do what he wanted, and so was Jessica Martin, who voiced Samus in that game. I kinda wish Jennifer Hale had continued to voice Samus, really.

That said, it's going to be a long while before we get another Metroid game.

Not "technically", it says "Metroid IV" right when the game starts up ;)

Just the missile and recharge controls bothered me.

You have very odd hated of controls by your post.

Odd how? I found the touch only controls of the DS Zelda games imprecise and awkward, and the motion controls in Skyward Sword felt gimmicky and unresponsive to me. Just my opinion is all. And I forgot about the recharge in Other M, I hated that crap too....still haven't bothered to go back & fight Phantoon either.

Really? I don't think the controls for DS zelda's are bad at all, skyward sword was only bad when I swung the remote around hard but if I actually took a moment and was purposeful in swings it worked flawlessly.

I didn't mind the controls themselves, but I hate that they had all of the action on the bottom screen, so it was physically impossible to control yourself and be able to see the entire screen at the same time. I have a feeling that might be why the first game had a transparent stylus available, though I'm skeptical as to how much that would actually help.

Also, Animal Crossing and Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland allowed you to optionally use the d-pad instead of the touch screen for movement...Tingle being very similar to Zelda, I thought the controls were great.

As long as you had your touch screen calibrated, it worked as intended.
You need to recalibrate your touch screen on DS and 3DS from time to time if you are using the stylus (It's in the system settings).
That goes for most touch screens too.
Unless you were making wide sweeping motions.

Skyward Sword worked well, but it required you to recalibrate motion + from time to time.
Though if you had electrical or light interference, it would interrupt the motion and pointer controls.
You didn't need to make sweeping motions either.
Skyward Sword had many issues, but the controls weren't one of them.

@SabbaraCadabra
The clear feather stylus was promotional item for those who were able to get one (I did).

I wouldn't have any problem with it if there was any basis for it in the other games. It doesn't however, it comes completely out of the blue. It clashes with everything she represented in the other games. This game is like the phantom menace of Metroid.
