This might seem weird but since everyone here is an aspie (well not quite, but any way) I wanted to ask how do you know when you've understood something? I don't mean a specifical word, I'm mean more like an instruction or something like that in a context. My mom says I need to ask myself if what I heard makes sense but I can't get into the habit of asking myself questions. Someone told me you gotta see a picture in your head. Unfortunately, I'm not a visual. So do you have a method (even if it's automatic plz let me know), or have you also been wondering?

I don't really think about it most of the time. I guess if it's an instruction, I repeat it in my head to make sure I've got it memorized. If it's a concept, I think it over in my head to make sure I understand it. It helps to actually do things so I can know that I understand them.

^trial and error is a good teacher :)

not sure about commands, but one way i can be almost certain that i've understood a bit of info, is if i can recite it to myself in different ways/words, configurations than the way it was taught to me. not just memorizing what was said to me.
