Google finally makes ‘Undo Send’ an official feature of Gmail on the Web

I wonder how that works. Do they plan to force non-GMail servers to coöperate by deleting mail they've already received? What if the user has downloaded it and saved it to their own disk? Are they somehow going to stop the user's own computer from doing that, or to force it to delete the mail, too? This bodes ill.

So, now Google can harvest e-mail messages that don't, ultimately, get sent? The NSA must have thought this up.

I think it's a good idea.

I don't use Google products and I block Google applications as often as I can. Same thing with Facebook and other non-encrypted social media. Even WrongPlanet.net uses certain analytical data-mining tools from Google and others, but they remain blocked during my visits here. I don't blame anyone for their use. Some web-site software code or features require such tools. But, I don't have to allow them to run when I visit.

I take much the same approach to Google, and have never had a Facebook account. Right from the start there was always something about them that screams 'intrusive'.

(By the way, on a personal note I've been trying to reply to your last pm, but something on WP is blocking me from sending it. Probably Google ... )

Hehe. We have been discovered! Terminate all communications and switch to total private-satellite encrypto-mode!

Actually, this happens sometimes with my PMs, it seems to repair itself when I send another PM to you, which hI will do now.

Tried replying to your new pm and composing a new one, but am still blocked. I'll try later or tomorrow. :?

It just doesn't send the email for a specified period of time (less than a minute) so you have a small window of opportunity to cancel it.

Ah. That helps. :)

You may be sending too much data at a time in your response.

The way I had to get around it was to simply screen-shot my responses then upload it to http://www.imgur.com/ when responding to someone. I was able to retain the formatting since I simply created a(n) .html-file in order to be able to put in the indents (blockquote), any high-lighting, bold/italics/under-line, etc.

Cuts down on the size of the PM therefore by-passing the TMI-trigger « feature » from Cloud-Flare.

For me it would be most useful in those moments of "oh crap I forgot to attach the file!" which occur as soon as I hit Send.

So it just delays sending the e-mail for 30 seconds.

They should let you delay sending for 24 hours. It would be a blessing to drunks everywhere. :)

There's a cute image for that!

I'm with yellowtamarin -- this would be useful for when I've forgotten to attach a file I meant to send. I do that a lot and always have to follow my first email with one titled "Agh forgot the picture, here it is."
