Vegans ... I'll bet they are behind this, in much the same way that the uber-moralistic convictions of pietistic Protestant Christians - the latter-day Puritans - were behind Prohibition.

It's a conspiracy, I tellya! A freekin conspiracy!

They can have my bacon when they can lift it bare-handed out of my hot fry-pan!

Bacon is carcinogenic, but you need to both overcook the hell out of it and eat a ton of it to put yourself at any real increased risk; the dangerous compounds, nitrosamines, only form at temperatures over 500 degrees ish, so skip the torched bacon and you're golden. Also, stay away from the "nitrate free" garbage, most of the time they load that stuff with celery juice or spinach extract, which technically complies with the labeling requirements, but both of those things contain huge quantities of nitrates, far in excess of the legally allowed limits for bacon, but because they're naturally occurring, they can label the product as nitrate free.

This makes perfect sense when one considers how Saudi Arabia heads the so-called "Human Rights Council".

The WHO is a UN agency. I assume everything the UN does is tainted until proven otherwise.

This is likely part of a campaign to appease the Muslims.

It's all about the amount of processed meats that you consume, not the foods themselves. For that matter, sugary drinks such as coke a cola cause cancer, if you have enough of them.
