Does anyone here believe in soulmates [and not just the romantic ones]?

A simple answer for your question is - yes.

Since I am still finding my potential soulmate, I am still believing in it. Finding a soulmate is a challenge for all of us, with some extra challenges for people with disabilities. Soulmate is a part of our lives. We must expose and promote ourselves to the world of who we are.

My advice for you is to maximise your exposure to the world. Join groups, sports, go to school, get a job, go on trips/travels and that. That is an example of positive life.

Soulmates is beautiful thing that EVERYONE wants. It is a biological, sociology and psychological norm for us human beings. ASD thing isn't mean impossible. We are on a same level of probability as to the NT and other able bodied people.

What we all have to do is to avoid self loathing, be mindful of yourself and LOVE yourself. You need to have a soul in yourself. This helps other people to find other 'soul'.

I'm extremely shy and socially awkward, unfortunately, and I have a tendency to self-deprecate a lot.

If what you mean by "soulmate" is "a person with whom one has a strong affinity, shared values and tastes, and often a romantic bond", then my opinion is that it's possible.

If instead you mean something like "two halves of the same soul" or "bonded spirits" or "karmic partners", then no - definitely not.

Again that won't be impossible. Socially shy and anxious people still get romance and soul life. The soulmate thing is like love unexpected. It can be anywhere you go, from family friends to your community groups. Nothing according to the plan still gets you.

Also, in my opinion, soulmates are what you make of them, not what you think was made for you.

But I'm of the materialist philosophy, so what do I know about "spiritual" things?

I must say that I am intrigued by the concept that of all of the 7,000,000,000+ people on this planet, there is only one that is ideally suited for you.

Cool, a pacifist and a virtue ethicist! I'm a deontologist, and I believe more in fighting, but I'm not sure anymore if fighting works... still, fascinating...

The way I see it, fighting just causes so many problems that there's no need for it whatsoever. Plus, it's not healthy [physically, mentally, and spiritually]. I'm a kind and loving person, so I abhor conflict.

But what if the other side is not interested in negotiating? what were we supposed to do with the nazis? what are we supposed to do with isis, and the violent buddhists persecuting and massacring muslims in burma? they're not gonna stop, so we HAVE TO fight.... that's just my way of seeing it.... or do you believe only in direct self-defense as fighting?
