Hi! I'm horrid at introductions but I might as well throw one in here as well. I've actually posted a couple other places first and then it registered they had a forum for introducing oneself so I thought I might as well. I'm Gale, nicknamed after my current favorite game character (see my avatar). I'm an anime and video game fanatic who spends most of my time tinkering with one or the other, I also like to try to write now and then and hope one day to get something published. I should probably say more about myself but I'm really bad about direct introductions so that's gonna be it.

Thank you so much for the welcome!

I do several types of writing really. Mostly novellas or short stories though I've yet to complete anything and have it published. I also write some fanfiction now and then to keep the writing block gremlin away and keep myself in practice. Most of my stories take a sci-fi or fantasy vein to them, though I try not to write anything too similar to anything I've read before. Probably my longest story in progress is a multi-part story about this character whose race is charged with keeping the very balance of reality and what he has to go through. I also have written a little poetry, though I'm not great at that. I mostly write freeverse or haiku when I write poetry.

So far, only short stories. I always force myself to write something drastically different from whatever I wrote last whenever I start something new, so they're not confined to one style. I hope to get into longer material at one point, but I haven't mustered the cojones yet. Probably a good thing, considering my agonizingly slow and careful writing style.

That brings up an interesting point. Is your writing technique much more careful than anyone else's? I've always wondered if it was something unique to me or something all writers with AS do.

I'm pretty similar like you said to writing stuff that's drastically different, even within a set genre like fantasy my plots are as different as day and night.

Indeed, I am that way about my writing technique. I almost get neurotic at times about it, like every detail has to be perfect and I have a very particular way of styling my writing. I also can never leave a typo alone if I notice it when writing, I have to immediately fix it. I think it might be something to do with AS because my mother has AS and is the exact same way about her writing. Here's another question concerning writing, whenever I come across a new word I have to immediately look it up in a dictionary unless it's physically impossible for me to get my hands on a dictionary at that moment. And then I'll often try to apply that word in my writing somehow.

It does get difficult when you get into longest pieces.. My longest word count in a story is up in the 30,000 word area, and I'm only a quarter of the way done with that one, which is a frustration because it's taken me so long to even get that far.
