I live in Australia, and believe in the existance of large felids living in our bushland. There is an extremely large amount of evidence supporting this, and yet the government and many officials say that it is impossible. I myself have seen evidence of these big cats. When I lived on a farm in rural far north Australia, the neighbors had a cow (brahman) give birth overnight. When they went out looking for it the next morning, it was found about 20ft up in the fork of a gumtree, dead, but uneaten. None of our native predators are capable of dragging a newborn calf up into a tree, but it is a habit of large cats to do so. One large black cat was shot by Kurt Engel, which measured 1.98m long. The tail (which was over 60cm long) was DNA tested, and came back Felis Catus. So thats a panther sized domestic (feral) cat. I believe that feral cats in Australia have been (for quite some time now, as reports date back to the late 1800s) been growing to sizes previously thought impossible for Felis Catus to reach, possibly to better compete with large predators like dogs, and to make use of plentiful, large prey items such as kangaroos and livestock. Are there any other Aussies here who share my thoughts on this subject? Or the subject of yowies, (a sasquatch like cryptid) which I also think is possible.
