Someone sent me a pm asking how I was doing and saying that people were worried about me, so I figured I should update:

I can see my kids. I can go home while the kids are at school, or after they're in bed. I can take the kids places either with or without my husband. We just can't fight in front of the kids, which is fine with me.

I've seen a therapist, who (based on seeing me twice) thinks I have Borderline Personality Disorder. I disagree. Both me and my husband are going to have to have psych evals done, which I'm hoping will result in me getting the correct diagnosis. He's annoyed that he has to have one at all, since he thinks he's completely mentally healthy and emotionally stable, but I'll be amused (and not surprised) if it comes out that he's actually crazier than I am.

Meanwhile, I'm staying with friends, and have lots of time to myself, which is really nice. It's quiet and peaceful here, no constant yelling and screaming. When I make an effort to help out around here, it's appreciated, but if I get wrapped up in my own activities, no one seems to care. Oh, and sewing things for people here is seen as a nice thing to do, not just something I do for fun. I like it here, and while I'm going to be able to move back home soon, if things get bad again, I can always come back here until he calms down.

What a relief!

It's so rare to hear that a woman is not getting completely shafted; that you are actually in a safe place that's okay with you!

Yeah! There is justice in this world.

The shrinks seem to like using bpd as a catch all for females... I think it is more their laziness than anything else that results in so many bpd diagnoses. It catches so much...you only have to be a self harmer and have an ED and they tend to diagnose borderline. I hope you get a proper dx that is correct and useful to you.
