Atypical aspies

Are there any aspies who don't fit the geeky prototype or never had a special interest dealing with geeky stuff? If yes, what were/are your special interests?

I'm ungeeky.
I'm much better with practical things such as cooking, art and construction than 'intellectual' things.
I'm also into physical activity and outdoor pursuits.

But you both still score high on systemysing right?

My interests right now are just reading stuff online and I like to write. I also play my Nintendo 3DS and I spend my time focused on certain games than playing others on it so I have a bunch of games I never play which is why I have backed off buying games from the eshop and buying books for my Nook if I was never reading them. My interests are just to narrow right now. I was just throwing out my money I had realized on interests I never pursue in so I got rid of my interest in buying games and ebooks and focus on reading instead and playing the games I got.


I was always fair in math and then sucked at math because it's all too abstract and I was never a geek or into nerdy things like science or math.

And I score low in the systematizing. I got a 51 which is below average for a average NT female because they get a score around 55. I am just not interested in a lot of things but I am sure my husband would score higher on it because he likes science and reads about it a lot. I also got a 22 on the other systematizing test which is also below average for a NT female.

I am both athletic (even at the olympic-levels) AND I am considered a brainiac.
I own multiple computer-systems, laptops, and various computer-parts.
I am probably extremely a-typical. Just read my last 100 posts to see for yourself.

I have what feels like a strong aversion towards my geeky tendencies, but it hasn't annihilated that side of myself. It's as if I have two selves in my head, geek and anti-geek. Don't know if that qualifies me as an atypical Aspie.

Not sure what all 'geeky stuff' encompasses, it would seem the consensus so far is being into science or math. I am quite terrible at math however I find science interesting and find myself reading up recent advancements or scientific discoveries and find things like nature/science documentaries interesting. I tend to enjoy learning about things like that. I also find history, sociology and psychology rather interesting.

I enjoy fantasy and sci-fi books, movies/shows and games. Also I am very much into metal music enough to consider myself a metalhead though I like some music out of other genres to. So yeah not sure that makes me an atypical aspie or not.

I don't fit into any stereotype.
As an aspie? I'm an active but odd asocial aspie who is not a fan of anything, so nothing much in common to talk about.

My obsessions are more in involving activities than just knowing or hoarding stuffs.

I love the math and science topics, but it stems more from a curiosity of how the universe works, rather than a desire to systematize. My views are very similar to Feynman's - I find beauty in the process and ultimate results, but desire a strong tie to "real world" practicality. Which probably means I'm much more of a physicist than a mathematician

However, most of my personal time is taken up with outdoor activities or extreme sports. Scuba diving and mountain climbing are my two biggest passions. I do play video games from time to time, but not nearly as much as I did in my youth.

I was never great at systematizing; I'm good at what I do because I veer toward the parts of geekdom that don't require it. Math & programming...both feel like they are so linear as to be suffocating & restrictive & narrow (not that those are bad, just...not me). I get lost. To make a living, I tend to enjoy more abstract parts of the realm, like playing with big data sets but even that's only because I can think that way without consciously having to work through the (to me) plodding, precise, systemic steps in between start and finish. I usually problem solve by avoiding consciously thinking about how the precise low level steps & parts need to fit & just shape the data to find the solutions.

Then again, I was discouraged and prevented from learning the more systematizing academic disciplines growing up; I was taught that it was "not proper" for me to learn them, and even "embarrassing" so I found my own interests and methods on the outskirts.

So...geeky but with a few big pieces missing?
