Is there anything that can be done about this? I come on to this site at around 10:00-11:00, and almost every day, the "General Autism Discussion" forum is flooded with spam about some Indian love magic. The spammer seems to get banned and then creates a new account for more spamming. It does get dealt with quickly, but it is annoying to have to weed through all of this crap when browsing the forum.

Yes, it can be solved with ONE LINE OF CODE in PHP that checks the topic using RegExp if there is a phonenumber in the topic. But writing one line of code is apparently hard since it haven't been done yet.

Could something similar be done in Javascript? If so, then it could be made into a userscript. It wouldn't solve the problem serverside, but it would be better than nothing. It might be difficult to merge pages of filtered search results though.

I think back when i joined, some people WP members used to use a plugin or a clientside javascript thingy that was filtering posts from people they didn't want to see. Cannot remember the name of it, but it could be modified to remove <DIV>s from the "view posts..." views using regexp in javascript.

Anyone remember the thing i'm talking about?

Well, WP does have a friend/foe system, where if you add someone to your foes list, you won't be able to see the posts that they make. I don't know if you're talking about that or something else.

For one don't post a topic that mentions them in the title, as we can see they've returned to spam the forum within a while of this post. I think perhaps the best policy is to ignore these topics, and report to mods in hopes someday they might ban such spammy users or create some kind of software that decreases their ease of access. But it seems ever mentioning them specificallly just attracts more spam...so next time maybe don't specify them in the title.

I've added some countermeasures. Hopefully they are enough to put an end to this. We shall soon find out.

looks like the spammers have been effectively blocked.
