I haven't experienced that at all. Perhaps it's adware on your computer that only appears on certain sites to be less conspicuous, you should do some antivirus scans. Malwarebytes, Spybot S&D, and Ccleaner are great free antivirus programs that should take care of the problem especially if you use all three together.

I'm getting this too. It comes up with a box every now and then saying I've won a phone. There's another one too, and it's only on this site.

i have a feeling that "it's not a bug, it's a feature"

this site is already infested with dreadful and very questionable ads anyway, so that stuff doesn't surprise me

It's a malicious ad, may not be a virus, but a possible bad browser addon. Clear the browser cache, history and remove potential malicious addons. If such is affected in all browsers, do a full anti-virus scan, if it's still around, search online for what it's possibly called and use an appropriate remover tool. There are more general cleaning or more specific remover tools out there, though one must be careful if such a tool could also contribute to a computers infection.

Finally there's add blockers to protect from such ad's in the first place, one such add on that has worked for me is uBlock Origin for FireFox. I find it works better that adBlock and without problems. As some anti-virus software flag it up as a potentially unwanted program.

mobile safari has no support for addons or any way for virus infection to happen afaik. if it's a virus, it's on the server end (meaning: it's the website)

it happened to me before (a while ago). it kept redirecting me to some very odd domain (i think it was some random string of characters .jp or something) and giving me a popup message like that one. it happened without clicking on anything. just opening a webpage (any webpage) on wp was enough to trigger the redirection. and it was only on mobile (and only on wp. i've never seen something like that happening on any other website)

Oh, that thing.

Yes, WrongPlanet is almost unusable on Safari mobile because of it's vulnerabilities.
It redirects me to surveys and malware Apps on the App Store, sometimes in 2 seconds flat so I can't cancel out the action.

I think the only way around it is starting the forum off again with a clean slate and different platform.
The other problem I get is with Safari on OSX. On replying, it lags so much that I have to wait a minute for the browser to catch up with what I typed before I can hit send.

Anagram, I thought I was the only person being redirected. Here's one of my URLs:

Sometimes I think I hit the submit button and I get one of these instead.

I don't usually browse this site from a computer.

@datab4: i don't know how well it would work for you (i'm not sure how well the system-wide accessibility features work, and such), but as i mentioned before in another thread about annoying ads, there's a relatively good alternative for web browsing on ios:

on ios, there's a browser that i really like, named "icab mobile". it's not the best one for all web browsing, but it's customizable, and it has built-in ad-blocking features. you also have the option to set filters to access each domain (or url pattern) as a different "user agent" (meaning you can force the website to load as if you were on a laptop or an android phone, for instance). there's more features that i use, but those alone are already more than worth the $2 to me

there are other browsers too, of course, but that's the only one i use besides safari. it's just too bad you can't choose your default browser on ios

I did not read the other thread so just learning about that app now. :-) I think maybe I will give it a shot. Thanks.

It happens to me too, only when I come to WP, and only on my phone. The current page turns into a thing that says congratulations I've won something (probably an iphone or something, I never read it). And then it won't let me navigate away.

It goes through phases of doing that. But when I try looking up on how to stop this from happening, all it says is to download certain apps to stop it, but I don't want to keep downloading stuff on to my phone. I wish there was an easier way without having to load up more apps on to my phone.
