As illustrated by this comedy approach, the RNC seemed to be all about feelings, and regardless of stats or history (is it a wonder some of them believe the world began when Jesus was born?) - if this is their new ideology then politicians can create fact from fiction, but then again he does admire NK's Kim.

So... should policy be be made by some impulse of the amygdala?

Coming from the same side that spouts the mantra "listen and believe"? I don't think so.

Can't we have a big mootoo thread rather than 40 new ones a week clogging up the forums.

Mikah, at least something is written in the thread as opposed to just using it as a video dump.

The US lost reason in this year's elections sonewhere during the primaries.
Trump on one end, clinton on the other... both parties had better candidates, but the populace chose the ones with the best buzzwords: a egocentric fascist vs a radical feminist

Clinton isn't a radical anything and she's not a dedicated feminist.

Anyway, all elections are feeling vs feeling. We rarely decide who to vote for using reason, even if we think we do. That's not to say that all sides are equally rational, but the vast majority of people who vote for Clinton will be doing so based on their long-standing preference for Democrats and/or their instinctive dislike for Trump rather than a cold analysis of whether Clinton's policies will benefit them and the country.

We used to use more reason in the past---or at least to project that image.

Compare the 1960 Nixon Vs. Kennedy debates with today's debates.

Reason would be getting rid of these two. Not just out of the presidential race, out of politics altogether. Quite possibly, both of them to a jail cell.

No, just no. The quickest way to turn into a banana republic is to start jailing politicians for performing politics. There is already an impeachment process for politicians actually holding office who do wrong, that is sufficient.

Yeah, I agree. I do fear for America though regardless of which one wins.

Sure it is. I don't agree with Gary Johnson on every issue, but he's obviously the only decent, honest, rational adult in the room. The other two candidates are both emotionalist, corrupt demagogues, campaigning on fear and fantasy.

Probably not what you meant though. 8)
