Can anyone help me understand the icons next to each post?

Thanks so much. I guess I wasn't really very clear about what I was asking. When you first enter a forum, there's a column on the left titled "Topic". Next to each topic is a little icon. I understand the "sticky" ones, but I'm unsure about the others. Some are like bells. Some are animated bells. Some of the bells have a black dot on them. That's what I'm confused by. I notice it gives a little information when you hover the cursor over the icon, but it's not very specific.

If the shape in the middle of the circle is green, it means that there are new unread posts in that topic. If the shape is white, it means there are no new unread posts. (This doesn't always work, though.) The black dot means that you have posted in the thread.

The topic icons, I am looking for a legend but can't find one yet.
