Anybody heard of Verbal Dyslexia?
"I put my lapkin on my nap."..."I would cry joys of tear."..."My church got stolen at a phone event."..."Do they celebrate Australia in Christmas?"
I've said all those things. I do it while talking, typing, and stuff like that. I mix up two words, or the first letter in each word. Is that verbal dyslexia?

I also find myself doing that a lot. I've also been wondering the same thing.

I do this at times, not frequently but often enough that I have developed a sort of habit of doing it deliberately as a form of joke so that when it is unintentional, no one else but I knows for sure it wasn't meant. Plus I have always had a sort of warped sense of humor, word puns and soonerisms and the like appeal to me big time.
For example if someone asks "How are you?" I like to say, "Well, not as bad as I could be and not as good as I ought to be, so about like normal, I guess." Or I will say, "Well, just finer than frog's fur." Or "Sorta like a feline lying in a fresh batch of catnip." I often enjoy the looks on other peoples' faces who were expecting "Okay" or "Good" or whatever. Or when it is really cold outside I may say, "Brrr, Brrr ... and I am not talking about the carpet." Or if a co-worker says something about like, "Is it time to go home yet?" I'll answer, "Well, you haven't heard the fat lady sing yet, have you?"
But on switching words, I'll deliberately say something like "Brr, it is crigging fold out there!" Or "It is egg enough out there to fry the hot with." Like I say, I work on this at times so that the times it just happens is expected and not unusual. It is my defense mechanism against being thought as "different". Flaunt the oddities enough and people just figure you are eccentric. And that works for me. Plus it seems to give me a little control over the other stuff because I am not stressing out at the fear of doing it when I am a little out of control.

this is more like a delay in understanding what you're hearing.
i think i have this... as i tend to say "huh?" a lot... yet i actually gather what the person was saying... it's just that i hear it right about the time that they've completed their sigh and start REPEATING to me what they just said lol
^ This. I always feel so dumb because by the time I realize what the other person is saying, it's too late.

I saw an article recently that referred to this and other examples in this thread as cluttering. It's related to stuttering, but at the word/phrase level instead of getting stuck on individual sounds.
Dyslexia means issues in learning to read. Reversals aren't actually a diagnostic indicator for it. Some people talk about visual dyslexia and verbal dyslexia according to the pathway that is causing the reading issues. Verbal dyslexia would actually be issues with separating words into their phonetic sounds, and in making the connections between sounds and letters and blending them.
letter of each one. Example: root beer = boot reer
