Notice from the mod team about recent events on WP

Some regular members have been slandered here publicly and privately.

After an investigation, it has been ascertained that these accusations are false therefore a member called Britte has been banned along with her sockpuppet account "Kelby" which she used to report members like SaveFerris, wrongly accusing them of having sockpuppets. Since she slandered him publicly we feel the need to clarify things by posting this public notice as a general notice to everyone.

This is unacceptable behaviour by a community member and it will not be tolerated.

Britte has also slandered Raleigh via PMs, saying he bullied her and that he got a warning for it by B19, which is also a complete fabrication. That is a fact only a mod can see, and Raleigh's record is impeccable.

Some other members have also been slandered by Britte publicly and privately, but as we're not sure whether they'd like to be mentioned publicly, we'll keep their names private.

It is also a sad fact that some members may have left the site due to Britte's behaviour, this is very regrettable and we hope they will return.

If Britte/Kelby has been spreading rumours or misinformation about any other members here to any of you, don't believe them as it's false accusations, if in any doubt contact a mod.

Any member that feels that they are being harassed privately should not stay silent and contact a mod as we can't deal with it if we don't know, we can't read your PM's unless you report them.

It is important to emphasise that she'd use gaslighting on her victims, so if you feel that someone has been psychologically bullying you, please report them to us.

That's exactly how I got into this position , I was trying to improve things and offer support but something didn't add up and I couldn't put my finger on it until it was too late My thread in the Haven was a real eye opener , it just proves how socially naive I am

I want to publicly thank the moderators involved as this can't of been an easy situation to deal with.

Wow, I just... I had no idea that this had been going on. I saw the "Britte" account a few times, and we had some conversations.

However, I don't remember seeing an account called "Kelby", and if I did then it didn't leave an impression. She was fairly nice to me, that's why all of this comes as a surprise.

Granted, I know that I have little to offer this conversation, but I just wanted to share my surprise. Hope everyone who has been affected by this is alright.

What purpose would this have served Britte? It just doesn't make sense to me. Why would she do this?

She's a very bright and intelligent person. It's a waste of her gifts for her to do this. That's my prevailing feeling.

I feel bad that people have been slandered, and felt compelled to "leave" WrongPlanet.

It really seems like the Mods have done an excellent job sifting through all this.

Her post history for the most part until the slandering led no one to believe she was of negative character.
She was obviously very careful about how she conducted herself to avoid detection.

It is unfortunate that this happened, and I trust the mods reviewed the situation to the best of their ability.

I have a feeling that this Britte was an old member under a different name, who got banned a long while ago.
