Hi, I'm new to the forum and have had problems logging in from the start. You know the home page (not forum's page) you get at first? Well, I try to log in from there and it says it's incorrect.

But when I go to the forums page and log in there, it works but every time I send a message in certain topics including "introductions", I get that pesky login screen from the home page again (not forum page) I couldn't log into in the first place.

It also happens when I try to access my profile. I've tried everything including changing my security settings, using different passwords, changing cookies but nothing works. I have a Netcape 7.0 browser.

The most likely problem is your browser blocking cookies, or not saving them correctly. You checked cookie settings already; maybe clearing all cookies would help? (That would take care of a possible corruption in the cookie file.)

(Pulling my hair out) I checked the cookie settings and it still didn't work. I even tried the retrieve-the-password method and it didn't send anything to my email. And when I first tried to register, that screen would not register me. So it's definately an issue with that log-in screen not working right for some reason.

Did you originally log in through the forums? Maybe you need to log in originally through the front page. What happens when you try to login again??! !

It won't let me log in through the front page and some forums and my profile page require that login on the front page.

Try placing http://www.wrongplanet.net in your list of trusted sites and set the security level for the trusted sites to low.

Thank's Sean, but that didn't work either. I even tried another browser. It just hates me. :(

Alex, is there any way Nirrti's problem could be the result of a firewall issue or an OS user permissions issue?

Wierd thing is I had similiar happen and doing what you suggested worked with IE and all but it's just puzzling what caused things to go that way as I never had to have WrongPlanet as a trusted site before.
