I found the cause of autism / spectrum conditions.
Hi, new here, and I have got news for you....
And yes I understand what you are all thinking now and you may not believe it but I am serious.
I really, really found out, and much more than that even.
Autism, or spectrum conditions which is indeed a better name for it, is / are caused by an excessive amount of endogenously produced acetaldehyde, in relationship with the digestive tract.
Acetaldehyde is best known for being the substance that your body makes when drinking alcohol but I have noticed that the body can also produce acetaldehyde by itself. This leads to the weirdest symptoms and one of them is that it influences the brain a lot. And I have no doubt about it that when you have this whole process young enough as a baby in sufficient amount it can change your brain permanently.
I started a blog about my findings at acetaldehydespectrum.com (just a non-commercial blog) you can go to for getting more of an idea what it is about. Unfortunately there is not much on it yet I just sort of started. Because I developed practically all of the symptoms of ME/CFS because of my illness I have also a post on the Healthrising ME/CFS forum (in general discussion) with some more info, so that might be worth following too.
There are researchers who believe that autism / sc and ME/CFS have a connection and I think that too (same process just later in life).
Because the Wrongplanet forum was very useful to me in researching it all over the years I thought this would be another nice place to make people aware of what I found.
However there is a problem : when it comes to writing text I am severely handicapped at the moment because of my ME / CFS so I can’t post or answer if you have questions.
So please see this as more of an “announcement” for you to think and discuss about.
Communicating is just not my strongest point at the moment I am often too tired to do that. I want to put all the little energy I have into writing on my blog to make things more clear in the future and one forum is already more than enough for me. Please understand this, just follow the blog or the Healthrising forum for more information to come.
Don’t worry I have no cures to sell to you so everyone becomes neurotypical again (that is impossible and I don’t know if one should even want to) however it might still be very important for a small percentage of people in the spectrum who have various physical or mental health complaints, because I believe that there are more people out there who have the same problem as me. For some the influence lingers on or has become present again (and the young children who could have it at the moment).
Now if you find it hard to believe or think it is too weird I would like you to think about the following :
You all know that they say there is a big connection with autism / sc and the digestive tract.
Well I can assure you there is, they just never figured out how it works.
But I have been there all my life and I already knew in theory beforehand because of the symptoms that my problems were caused by excessive endogenous acetaldehyde.
And I did the blood tests and I have proved that this is indeed the case.
So I would take it very seriously. Please discuss it a lot and spread the word around.
You have no idea how important all this is going to be in the future.
The cause of autism / sc and much more is found, the world just does not know it yet.

I have been sharing my experience here on the forums for over 6 years.. that ASD is digestive in nature & how I manage to successfully treat my symptoms and live the highest functioning life that I can.
This is the first I’ve heard of “endogenous acetaldehyde,” though. I may have to do a little reading about it.
But, thing thing is that very few people here believe any of it (have called me a liar, fraud, hoax, snake oil salesman etc even though I’ve never offered anything for sale and shared transparently what they can do themselves with grocery/health store items.) and very few of them are interested in learning anything about treating their own symptoms and very few of them are interested in doing any work whatsoever to do so.
That said, if you’re interested in what I’ve learned, shared here 6 years ago, and have been doing for more than 6 years feel free to pm me. Good luck with engaging anyone here with what you’ve learned and have to share, you’re gonna need it! ![]()

FWIW, I went vegetarian long ago, and vegan recently. I didn't notice any mental changes. I almost never use alcohol, and my AS mother was quite temperate. However, I would be interested in the results of controlled experiments I can repeat easily.
Here's another possibility, or perhaps part of the same one: https://newatlas.com/autism-genes-trigg ... ein/55943/
It's probably possible that digestive tract methods might work on some individuals with mild autism or spectrum conditions, as you put it. Perhaps even the term spectrum-like conditions could/should be applied.
People will probably take a matter like this more seriously when it's published in the Journal of American Medicine et al.

Autism is such a complex disorder it is not logical that 'what will work for one will work for another'.

Autism is such a complex disorder it is not logical that 'what will work for one will work for another'.
That's why things like extensive clinical testing, meta analysis, double blind studies, peer review etc exists.
And it would seem likely that if what causes autism had been discovered and any kind of definitive treatment had been established, people like Temple Grandin, Tony Attwood, Simon Baron-Cohen, David Amaral, Olga Solomon, Connie Kasari, Rene Anand, Gregory Abowd etc would be talking about it.

All that takes time, and often helpers. It can take over a generation for "the experts" to agree, partly because their careers depend on other explanations. The Continental Drift theory had a very rocky start. (pun included)
I've been trying to give away good ideas for decades, but they all slow down the economy. https://www.compositesworld.com/columns ... le-history

And your medical degree is in what specialty?

If we had ignored all the discoveries made by people without formal education, we wouldn't even have fire.
Yes but I would like to see an independent study confirming it.
Especially, I would welcome an attempt to test weather it is about autism itself or just feeling better overall that typically makes many autism traits less visible.

I'd likely incline to think that digestive factors affects EF first and foremost -- and thus the behaviors, functioning, then it's consequences... Like how anxiety affects the same way, how it impedes functioning, influences thoughts and actions, and mimics/amplifies autism.
Every time I read 'causes of autism', things pops out of my mind like I'd want to know like how to set apart asocial autistics due to rejection and social failures VS autistics who really is asocial to begin with and without the basis of 'reaction' due to diet or health or circumstances VS socially driven autistics regardless of any circumstances. In which I know that would be complicated with begin with.
Like how ADHD/ADD rules out from the effects of sleep disorders. Like how being nonverbal came from anxiety, disinterest, learning disability, or lacking certain concept of need for speech instead of anatomical basis. Like how those with thyroid disorders is set apart from those who have different causes of sudden functioning decline. Like how those with bipolar disorders are set apart from those with untreated hormonal or unrelated psychological conditions, for worse, types of personality.
My real own question is how to discount those digestive/drug/poor whatever reaction 'induces' autism, from those that neither the gut nor hormones nor upbringing nor any reactional/consequentials (other than genetics and a normal, healthy birth without complications) are involved to induce said set of 'symptoms'? As it isn't the nor the only one (yet variably) 'cause'.
I'd go for treating the gut for efficiency of functioning and learning, but not sociality or concepts -- but the more efficient one could have, the more work arounds are accessible for said sociality and concepts. Thing is, this works to those who are affected -- the ranges of severity can induce autism-like symptoms. So what? While I accept it's one of possible reactional causes, what sets others that doesn't have the reactional factors apart?
This is an easily a chosen option, and yet some would also jump into conclusions that it's the cause of autism because autism is the 'reaction', or whatever worsens the curse.
Like how anxiety is easily mistaken as a part of, or worse, autism as anxiety's reaction kind of conclusion.
TLDR; likely an old news to me. And not satisfied for personal reasons because I've seen and read the same patterns all over. Both formal and informal.
Replace gut or it's specific thing with something else, then we have severe enough reactions out of circumstances and thus 'cause of autism'. Sorry. What if it's not? What if the factors and the circumstances are the same to others, or more severe even -- but reactions are different and even far from autistic-like? I'd likely wanna know those with same gut profile or have the same thing with them, yet didn't 'became' autistic -- what sets them apart?
Just as to why some people don't develop nearsightedness? Even if their habits the same, their diet's the same, their eye strains the same, family's history's the same, even if their processing's the same, and other factors' the same like gender or blood types.
While it's one of the many possible options to pursue efficiency by knowing the causes of deficiencies -- like getting rid of certain comorbidities or a specific symptoms that worsens functioning, it's not what I'm looking for.

As you guessed, we are sceptical, and a bare announcement carries no weight. It would help if the links given were full URLs, but you may have to wait a few postings for that privilege. What I'd be looking for, since it is too early for the results of formal studies, would be a simple experiment I could try myself.

Except studies have been done proving the link between the gut microbiota and autism:
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5408485/
And where this study leaves off is pretty much where I picked up 6+ years ago treating my own ASD symptoms via treating the gut dysbiosis & chemical sensitivity/imbalance.
The facts & science all exist. It's just taking people here a very long time to accept it. They're waiting another decade, or two, or a generation for others to try things out under medical supervision and have it all documented in a report rather than doing for themselves sooner. Doesn't change that this is all very real and applies to many on the spectrum. Perhaps not all, but many.
