I plan on moving out on my own for the first time in the next couple of years. Right now I have a scheduled hearing for disability, which I'm hoping to get approved for SSI. (I have major depression and it's medication resistant). My plan is to find income based housing, maybe through HUD, and work a couple of hours a week to supplement my SSI.
Will getting an official diagnosis of ASD be a negative thing in terms of getting services and trying to move out on my own? I will not be able to get a diagnosis, if I decide to, until after my hearing but I'm sure it'll go in my records. I know it's a bad thing if you want to adopt children but is there anything else that it affects?
