Nope. Nu-metal and the tough-guy buttrock that came in it's wake have never really resonated with me. :?

If that's unfairly lumping them in with bands like FFDP let me know.

I think it was better than Corvair, but Trans Am will always be best!

Corvair and Trans-Am both offered turbos. I like any car that goes PFFFTeheheheh when you let off the gas.

Yes. I mostly listen to more progy and extreme stuff now but they were one of the first bands I got into. They're not buttrock, more like Tool or Deftones but simpler.

I don't think FFDP would make songs like this:

I thought Chavelle was a model of car.

It was. It's also a band named after said car.

I thought it was an okay car, I guess. I used to see them on the roads back when I was a kid. It's like the diminutive for "Chevrolet."

That's literally what buttrock refers to. It's basically what grunge and nu-metal evolved into. They're about as close an archetype of what that term refers to as any band you can name.

It's derived from how stations that play a mix of harder alternative rock and older hard rock will refer to themselves as playing nothing but rock. Active rock is what most of those radio stations would describe their format as.

Their vocals werent as good as the Cadillacs"

Nor even the Impalas. Sorry!
.

About as good as Reo Speedwagon, Lita Ford, and the Cars.

But not as good as the Beetles.
