Oh boy, that Connecticut Hawkwatch job wants to do a Zoom interview on Monday... If they accept me I'd have a decision to make! Wish me luck!

They said they were quizzing me on raptor ID... I know a lot already, but I'll reread my raptor ID book!

How much would be your stipend or salary?

I'm not sure, I know it is paid, but the salary is supposed to be discussed later. It's just a part time internship with free housing so probably not much... But I will still get some of my SSI probably. I'm for sure I wouldn't make too much to lose my medical coverage...

Thanks guys! I hope I do well on their quiz...

The hardest one would be if they quiz on Cooper's Hawk vs. Sharp-shinned Hawk... They have similar plumage patterns, Sharp-shins are noticably smaller, but female raptors are larger than males... Female Sharp-shins are similar in size to male Cooper's... Anyway they differ in how much their head projects, tail shape and flight style. My raptor ID book has most of it's diagrams in black and white because it can be hard to pick out colors on flying raptors.

The time is drawing near! (my interview is in an hour and a half...) I'm making sure all systems are ago... starting up my laptop and making sure the settings are correct for example and that zoom is working properly and is updated... that my appearance is acceptable, etc...

Actually what is interesting is I checked my calendar and the position starts one WEEK from now... they are hiring last minute because they weren't originally going to hire someone because of Covid but now they are... Can I leave Michigan and show up there in such a little time frame??? This is nerve wracking and would be a shock to my family and my social workers, etc... if I got it...

NO!! ! I will have my auntie that lives downstairs look after it and take my mail out of my mailbox probably...

I just had the zoom interview, it was rather lengthy... they had that quiz on raptors and it was hard, I didn't get them all 100%, but they said they were impressed by the ones I did get. Plus the ones I didn't get, I was able to correctly narrow down the possibilities to genera level identification, there are various groups of raptors and they can often be assigned to groups based on shape, even from a long distance. Then you narrow it down by certain field marks.

I wrote them a nice thank you letter too.

What makes me nervous is the fact during the interview, I could see myself on video and I noticed that I was doing stuff like gesturing weirdly as I always do, and even rocking!! ! Plus I hate my voice because it has kinda of off quality to it that doesn't sound... neurotypical... Also I probably got overly emotional... yikes!! !

Edit: What was hilarious is that during the interview I mentioned that I have started off taking pictures and showed them my camera... then one of the guys I was interviewing with said "that camera looks familiar..." then showed me the same exact model camera! He said its a very good camera lol
