I haven't said anything to my family about the possibility of getting a job yet, and that it starts in one week if I get it!! ! But I told my main social worker about it and she told me it's my decision, but I need to help make it by making a pro and cons list... So I'll write down the pros and cons and I'll get your input:

Pros:
I did pretty well though not perfect on their quiz but it was a really hard quiz! But they said they were even open to training someone that totally bombed it... So I probably did well enough to do the job.

I could use this experience to gain further employment down the road, or even get accepted to grad school...

My past positions were very applicable to this one.

The best times in my life involved my past travels to different parts of the country. This area is in an affluent area a little outside NYC, that sounds fun, and it's near the Ocean... I like the ocean a lot!

Comes with housing!

The two guys that interviewed me were all smiles, they seem like they would be fun co-workers...

Time away from my family!! ! Except my Jersey in-laws, actually they are cool people, if I end up in that area I need to visit them...

It's a paid internship... That would help my financial situation...

I am excited they have special programs for people on the autism spectrum... Also there should be plenty of aspies to meet in that general populous area...

Cons:

My van is 20 years old and they said I would need to bring it... Ummm... I went to jobs with old vehicles before and ended up with them breaking down out of state... That was bad...

I have various specialist appointments next month... None of the issues are really emergencies, but I would have to cancel them, and make sure I can still get my prescriptions there... Though once a few years ago I was visiting my Jersey in-laws and I ran out of a medication but I was able to get it filled in New Jersey so it's probably totally possible...

My family is probably going to be shocked I would just up and leave and wouldn't be happy at all...

I think covid is more widespread in that area...

PRO: YOU WOULD BE TOO FAR FROM YOUR UNCLE AND HIS ROOMMATE FOR THEM TO EVER TAKE ADVANTAGE OF YOU AGAIN!!

Yep... This position only lasts three months... But I guess I could try to get hired somewhere else afterwards...

The guys seemed really interested in me during the interview!

I feel like I'm going a bit backwards though... In the past I had a couple of internships, then I got a few seasonal jobs... This position is another internship... On one of my jobs, I had training in hawk migration monitoring because I had to teach others about it... That's to my advantage! They quizzed me on it too to see where my knowledge would be on that subject... Also if I get it, this would be my second Audubon internship... National Audubon is a non profit that I always wanted to work for... Maybe if I do well enough, I'll get hired permanently!! !

COVID is actually way down in the NY area. Less than 1% positive tests in most areas, including NYC.

I’ll have to look whether you will have to quarantine yourself for 14 days upon arrival in Connecticut.

Nope. Michigan is not on the list.

Michigan has the strictist covid/mask laws in the country... I had two covid tests so far a little while ago, both negative... They said if I get it, they have strict covid rules, social distancing on the job, masks required, most of their programs have turned virtual, etc...

An update...

I talked about this with one of my social workers...

She's all for me getting this position if offered to me, but she had concerns... First, she is very concerned about that old van.... And I am too... she said they need to accept me flying out there and doing stuff like taking Uber to town or I should decline it. Second, she's concerned about how that income would affect my disability money...

Well, I emailed the questions to the Audubon Center and already got a response. First they said the flight thing is totally acceptable and in fact they might pay for it themselves...

Second, it's actual income though... If I make too much they might say I'm gainfully employed and I'd lose SSI. This position is 32 hours a week too, so I have to think about this...

What do you think???
