Waiting and waiting and waiting...

That internship said that they would get back to me soon with the decision... But I'm going crazy waiting for it... Ugghhh! Tomorrow is my 38th birthday, that would be an awesome present to hear that I got a job... But the position starts so soon but at the same time the description says start date is flexible, so would it be appropriate to negotiate waiting another week before I start if I get it?

I would ask....gently....but I would also go at their start date if they insist on their start date.

So that means you didn't take that job at the Michigan State you were considering? I still think that university job is far better than any other job you might take. So, instead of waiting in uncertainty for something lame, why not take that university job where you already gotten yes? Tell them you regret your decision of refusing it and you really want another chance.

Hm, I think starting after one week should be reasonable, but can't say for sure. It's always good to try... assuming you get the job, of course.
