Mistreatment in the workplace
Hi
First post here, I'm currently a station supervisor and had this job for 5 years so far and since i moved station groups i've been having a lot of trouble with management with regards to having Aspergers, how i am, sensory issues etc. A lot of this is also along the lines of discrimination, harassment and bullying. There's almost to much to go in to detail but i've had my job threatened, compared to others, some managers patronising me, refusal to accommodate reasonable adjustments, they've "reminded" me of my job description as well as a lot more...
My union rep is involved but things aren't really moving and it's been 9 months now and i'm getting fed up with it
Has anyone had any issues like this before and how did they deal with it?
Thanks
Hello, sorry to hear you've been targeted like that.
I don't have personal experience, but I've heard that it's important to keep a written record of every thing they do to you which may be discriminatory.
Maybe also keep records of your work to demonstrate that you've fulfilled the requirements of the role.
Hope that helps.

YES. My advice is look for another job because very clearly the union rep is a clown who doesn't know his/her job. What you are experiencing falls directly into the disability discrimination act wherein the company HAS TO make reasonable adjustments. They are breaking the law so if you wish to stay go straight to the union rep and tell him/her to pull their finger out or you'll take it over their heads to both higher management or the relevant legal authorities.
Of course, you could also quit then take it down the route of constructive dismissal which will really bring the pains on for your employer.
This does all assume that you are in the British Essex!
Document everything. Take notes, if not in the meetings, just after them. Record who was there. Make sure nothing you do can be perceived as insubordination. Always clarify the record if things are being misrepresented--don't let them dictate the "reality."
However, I would start looking for a new job. Even if you do not take it, it give you options.
Thanks all, ive definitely got records and emails of pretty much anything and it's quite good to know that it is definitely a breech of the law. My union rep sent quite a long email, basically saying to the area manager, fix it. Still waiting for a response on that but not holding out much hope
I've won (with help) three tribunals against the DWP including one for discrimination where the Jobcenter tried to change the agreement to force me to seek jobs cleaning toilets. Needless to say, they LOST and had to pay all the back benefits.
I wish you good luck with your efforts.
