Supervisor moans about me behind my back

I feel a little upset by this. I have 2 good friends at work who have told me that our supervisor runs me down behind my back to them, saying that I am "all over the place" and "disorganised". They told me this because they disagree with him and they've stuck up for me. So I'm glad they were being honest with me.
They think that I'm a good worker; self-sufficient, thorough, organised, and quick. So I don't know what on earth the supervisor's talking about. And if he does somehow see a problem with my work performance then why don't he just come to me and tell me, rather than run me down to my friends behind my back? Ain't that what a supervisor is for? I do feel rather hurt.

Sometimes people need to vent without needing you to actually change anything. If change was expected it would likely be brought up with you. If no change is needed but buddy is still frustrated, he might wish to express it and be validated without actually needing you to do anything.

One can be disorganized in some ways and quite organized in others.

He's entitled to not like how you do the job, but so long as you're meeting your performance quotas who cares how he feels? You're entitled to think he's an a**hole and he's entitled to as much recourse over that as you are over him being overly critical or not getting why you work the way you do.

Well I wouldn't think he's an a**hole if he didn't slag me down behind my back first. Actually I don't think he's an a**hole, I just feel upset when people accuse me of being a crap worker when I'm not a crap worker. I enjoy my job, and even the boss has said that I am an efficient worker in the meeting we had the other week. I'm always positive, don't mind what task I'm given, and will go and do it and get it done thoroughly before my shift ends, and all the equipment is put away neatly in the cupboard by the time I have gone home. So I don't know how the supervisor can vent about me if there's nothing to vent about. My friend said that he slags me down a lot, every week, not just on the odd occasion when he's had a bad day or something.

A good supervisor would not do that. I have always thought a supervisor's supervisor should talk to the workers for the supervisor's review to find out if things like this are going on.
