Yes exactly! I'm fed up of reading about how people with ASDs lack empathy when NTs may well understand each other but seem unable (or more likely
unwilling) to make the effort to understand people with ASDs!
Firstly people with AS can empathise, we just find it a little more difficult and sometimes need people to be more specific when they are describing their feelings to us.
Secondly - NTs seem to have selective empathy! Personally, I think that trying your best to empathise - even if you get it wrong some of the time is better than the NT way of having supposedly 'natural' and 'instinctive' empathy but just only choosing to use it when it suits them!
