Im against death penalty but its hard to argue that the death penalty is not just in this case, especially as he didnt even deny it.

edit - Oh he might have had schizophrenia.

While I do not wish the man dead, I would read his obituary with great pleasure.

I actually agree with the Slate take on this, that the whole trial and death sentence is a political farce so that Biden and Garland can virtue signal about how seriously they take hate crimes. Biden has claimed to be a criminal justice reformer and against the death penalty, and the shooter had a plea to take a life sentence, but the feds stepped in and spent a bunch of time and money to get this verdict which will likely never be enforced given the age of the defendant and the timeline for federal executions.
