Just woke up singing this line of a song and I can't find what the song is:

Anyone know?

I can't have made it up because the tune sounds too familiar but I've googled it and it's not coming up. It feels like a rock ballad

Yes.
90 percent sure.

The number of syllables per line and the rhythm of the lines are so close.

Lets just say that if you recorded your song today, and it became a hit...Paul Young would sue you for plagarism.
And as with Beatle George Harrison who got sued by the Chiffons for stealing "He's So Fine" and turning it into "My Sweet Lord" the court would allow that your theft was "unconscious" (not intentional...the Eighties Paul Young song was just buried in your subconscious).
