Well you can't watch the telly if you're laying flat, unless you've put the telly on the ceiling, and that might not be safe.
I like my feet up as well. Don't know why putting my feet up feels better than putting them flat on the floor, but it does. Maybe it's a circulation thing?
I don't like sitting up straight. I like to slouch back a bit, but not too far or it gets too hard to hold my head up. I had the slouching habit so strongly ingrained that my first dentist got annoyed because he kept telling me to put my bum back where it was supposed to go, and it always slid forward again without my knowing it had happened. These days, dentists' chairs all seem to be the lie flat type so it's no longer a problem.
I've seen these posh easy chairs that have servo motors to recline them and to move a board into place to get the feet up, but they look too hi-tech and decadent for me. I like to be spartan with my loafing about, so I get the same result with cushions and a tuffet.
