I think that's ok. I used to feel ashamed about it. But I think part of maturing for me is accepting things, Being able to be reasonable about my support needs, and not being so ashamed. I do need help with my hygeine, cleaning, laundry etc. I can do them on my own but I need a lot of reminders. I need to be safe. I sometimes have poor impulse control and I sometimes ditch my medication.

When I was a teenager I felt embarrassed about my struggles. Now I don't. I just feel like it's best I accept it. I can still live my life to the fullest. I don't need to compare myself to other people my age. I can't drive and I'm ok with it. It bummed me out at first that my siblings were getting their licenses and my cousins. I like to do other things. I enjoy walking. I can't take the bus alone. I used to want to. However I realize I get lost easily and I'm really vulnerable to being manipulated so it's better I am safe .I used to think people were being overprotective.

I love to do a lot of things like painting, writing and drawing. I don't have to let my struggles get to me. Sure they can suck sometimes but I can't dwell on what I can't do. I need to just focus on bettering myself..

great insights. it is definitely OK to accept help and support from others.
Some of us are simply wired in such a way that we will always need others.

Nobody's fault. No shame , no blame.

This seems like a healthy attitude to have.

Accepting one's limitations is sometimes a necessary reality check.

Yeah we've all got our crosses to bear Crystal

You're doing really well and your insights are showing how mature you are becoming as well

Same. I'm having the I-wont-ever-be-independent meltdown in stages. What's the process to do this smoothly?

If it's any comfort I've been told that I'll probably only reach late teens in certain areas of cognition or what ever

I mean I do ok and I'm independent and all of that but relationship wise, self awareness, behaviour etc etc I probably will never catch up
